Just came from another demo where the guy was fiddling with the knobs like a 2yo with a new toy, no idea what he was doing. I posted a comment of how a proper demo should've been done, and now I'm watching you do EXACTLY what I wrote. Thank you so very much. This is how demos are supposed to be done.

The Aguilar tone hammer, Xotic tri-logic, and Phil jones bass buddy are the only outboard preamps I would currently use. Every other preamp Ive tried are either too noisy or sound worse than my amp which is an Ampeg micro vr with the two matching cabs that does sound great. The Phil Jones is expensive compared to the other two but it's a serious piece of equipment that sounds amazing and is also a practice head that can push a cabinet with no problem. Pretty cool.

Been thinking about trading/selling for one of these.I have the MXR M80 which I like quite a bit but don't really need the distortion feature or XLR out as I use my Radial J48 which is a freakin killer DI Box. This unit sounds like a great clean Preamp with a little more tweak-ability than the M80.

I got the signature Flea Jazz Bass with passive pickups, will a preamp pedal (for example MXR M81 Bass Preamp) give the same effect/opportunities as active pickups?

NinjaNugget can you hear well at an outdoor concert? I'm afraid of not having that low frequencies... What is Your Stack?
@ninjanugget87814 жыл бұрын
@@mendoncapedro I find MarkBass combo amps to be very nice outside too. The amp cuts through the mix/band, and you can boost the bass/low freq on it without it sounding muddy or unclear. I also use the "MXR microamp" pedal (which I heard Flea also use/used). I use it to boost the low end when slapping and when I play some lead bass-lines. Also nice when using a pick or in general when you want to get the low end more clear and punchy

Hi @@JuankaTrujillo , very nice video:) Just to make sure, are you saying it is possible to send the EQ-ed signal through the XLR out and at the same time also an UNAFFECTED signal through the 1/4 out to the amp? If yes, do you have to open the pedal and adjust the internal switch? Thank you!
@JuankaTrujillo4 жыл бұрын

This is a great demo. But can someone explain to me the use of both input and output level? Aren't they just volume control or I am not getting something here?
@JuankaTrujillo Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for the comment! The input level is the level that you use for attack the preamp, (is not exactly the same, but is like the gain Knob) and the output is just the general volumen of all the sound

This was a really good demo, i just got a Hartke LH500 which is a basic Bass, Treble, and Mids with a Bright switch and a limit button, i run it through a SWR Working Man 2x10 and a Gallien Kruger 4x10 cab set up with a Sterling SUB Ray active bass and it sounds pretty good but i am looking to add a preamp just to make it sound even better. My first taste of a preamp was the Sansamp which totally surprised me because the guy at Sam Ash demoed it through an Ampeg 1x15 combo and it sounded amazing, well i started looking into preamps and have seen some different good sounding stuff but they are pretty pricey but this one if the price is correct that someone mentioned ($169) i think i might get this. I pretty much just play melodic and pop punk plus some 90's style emo (jealous sound, hey Mercedes etc but not exactly sounding like them) so i don't need distortion and i play finger and pick as well. Thanks for the demo because I think you sold me on this, God bless

@@JuankaTrujillo whats the pre/post for and how does it relate to the direct out? can i plug the amp on the direct out?
@alfrednougat78845 жыл бұрын
@@adrianjamin-dq9ru Well often when you play a live concert, the sound coming from the bass amp on the stage is just so that the band can hear the bass, it is not for the audience. The audience will instead hear the bass from the P.A. speakers, not the amp speaker. So oftentimes you will go from a D.I. output to a mixingboard and then to the P.A. speakers. So when you are playing a live concert, you can plug the pedals normal output to your bass amp on stage, and the D.I output to the P.A system. So you have 2 signals going out from the pedal at the same time, one for stage amp (band) and one for P.A (audience). The pre/post button selects if the E.Q. knobs on the pedal affects only amp sound (pre), or both D.I. AND amp sound (post).

And then when you plug them in and they sound so cool, but really aren't because you said they were a failure. So I guess they must be.
