Thanks for the walk around video. In the "fitting" process right now for my rig. Going from 33's (32.6") to 34's (34.5") very soon. Did the test fit with the new tires and wheel and have a little more work to do. Also replacing the LBJ cause...why not. And a ton of other maintenance stuff since she is ready to roll over 200k. Still drives like new though!

They make HD ball joints and I think offset ball joints for the lift and Shock Surplus had a great sale on the adjustable Rancho Ready Lift Struts, this video I just had spacers and they sucked, when I did the Rancho Struts the front end went up at least 2-3 inches, ride quality was awesome and drove awesome! Can't wait to get my S.A.Swap is done, I love my Tacoma, it's fun driving my Ghetto XJ but it's not my taco also I pounded in my wheel wells to clear the 35s ( 315 75 16s ) and the Patagonias are out of all the different tires I've ran and I have pretty much ran them all , they are definitely my favorite tires

Can't wait, she leaves for THE 4X4 PLACE in NJ ( I live in Long Island NY ) on April 4th, so Excited, it's going to be a real truck with a real axle, and possibly the only one on Long Island?

Please watch one of my new videos, my Tacoma S.A.Swap looks nothing like this anymore and it drove great except for this weak independent front suspension, I completely chopped the the crap IFS out, she's got a real axle now, and it's still on stock 4 cylinder 4:56 gears, for now, and I drive her every day! Just got back from a almost 400 mile trip from here in long Island NY to Joliet PA Rausch Creek Off-Road Park, it's 1000% better with the solid axle swap, this weekend I'll be driving up to North Western PA, on the Parkway or Interstate she'll cruise at 70-80 mph , has a little trouble on steep hills on the back roads but she makes it, in low range, it doesn't even matter, but Please check out one of my newer videos, Please, the truck is completely different now, but even though I Tagged the bottom of this video and explained that the truck 🛻 is nothing like this anymore, people are still watching just this video? Please 🙏 check it out and let me know what you think, can also find me on Instagram @frankrubicon_ TY for the comment

This video way out of date at this point, I have a newer one but she's heading in the shop for a full S.A.Swap on April 4th, although it is an issue these days, I've never really worried about MPG ,it's definitely better on gas ⛽️ than my 98 XJ , wait until she's got a real axle under her, there will be lots of videos, can't wait! The only way that thing is driving like stock is if it is always going downhill. I have a regular cab with the same drive train with 32" tires and the slightest hill is a problem at highway speeds. I doubt a stick shift will help it either.
@frankfilippone9679
@frankfilippone9679 3 жыл бұрын
She'll take a while but I have no problem doing highway speeds up to around 90 , seriously drives awesome, I am tearing the entire IFS out in a couple of days and doing a S.A.Swap with a trail gear leaf spring kit, but seriously I'm not lying lol she drives awesome! You might have other problems? I also have factory 4:56 gears, you probably don't? Do you know your gearing?

@@frankfilippone9679 B04A code on door jam, from what I'm reading it should be 4:56. I'm not going bigger with my tires or lift and I'm thinking about spending my money on a LC Engineering supercharger kit. I have to decide if I'm going to keep the gear ratio stock or not as I have a spare set of axles I plan to build for it. Keeping IFS for foreseeable future.
@frankfilippone9679
@frankfilippone9679 3 жыл бұрын
I totally hear you I'm actually thinking the same thing, it's slow as shit and about to make it a little heavier with the S.A.S. but it was slow even with the stock bald tires, I live in Long island NY and closest offroad park is hundreds of miles away and I drive my vehicles, I don't have a trailer, I'd like a trailer and tow rig but I'm poor lol since this video I lifted the front a few inches with Rancho Ready struts, I highly recommend them, shock Surplus gave me a great deal, but a few months ago I lost a lower ball joint luckily while barely moving TG , it was pretty much brand new, I'm guessing a defective part? But I decided to go ahead and do the axle swap, I gotta great deal on a front axle and had my friend match the 4:56 gears and do a flattop knuckle setup for high steer, 6 lug conversion etc But I'll be honest, shit is not cheap, so far with rear reinforcement plates I'm somewhere around 7500$ and counting, the axle is a Sleeved Dana 30 HP with Jeep Wagoneer Dana 44 outers, chromoly axle shafts and the thing weighs twice as much as a standard 30 , if you wanna see how the truck was sitting before it broke, check out the later video on my KZbin channel or check it out on Instagram @frankrubicon_ I'm not stopping on this one, going all the way! Probably stay Auto, better for offroad, just gonna beef it up

Drop in the 3.4 and you'll be happy as a clam with those 4:56 gears.
@frankfilippone9679
@frankfilippone9679 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not a fan of the V6 , I know the 3.4 is a great motor and it's the 3.0 that has Head gasket problems but I have a friend that is a certified Toyota mechanic and he was telling me that he's done a bunch of head gaskets on the 3.4 as well, I love my 4 cylinder, the 2.7 will run forever and I'm eventually going to Super or Turbo it , if I was going to swap motors, if I gotta go through that, I'm going 5.3 LS ,but I really love my 4 bagger , she's really good on gas , definitely better than my Jeep XJ , feel like I'm constantly putting gas in that thing, really wish my pickup was fixed, kids supposed to be picking it up soon? To do the S.A.Swap, hopefully 🙏
