Didn't have to on mine. Installed a double din pioneer dvd Player with two twelve inch subs running off a amp each.

@@shawneemcdonald9667 hard to remember now, I remember basically bridging the wiring coming from the harness (Car side) leading into the amp, Did alot of research and found wiring diagrams and what not about the color of wires for each speaker. Basically you're going to by bass the amp by connecting the wiring leading into the amp and out of the amp if that makes sense.
