Hell yeah dude. Just started surfing earlier this year and the progression feels so good! Wish I had someone that could record some of my sessions. It's crazy when you start to think you got something nailed down and then you just have a sesh where you're wiping out constantly and the ocean humbles you. Love it!

That’s was cool to see the progress. Keep it up and keep living!I grew up only an hour from the coast and used to go a lot. But for the last 20 years I’ve lived an entire days drive from the beach and it saddens me. I only get to surf twice a year now, one week on the Oregon coast in august and one week in Hawaii in the winter. The rest of the year is behind our boat or on our little river wave. It’s not enough!

one thing that sticks out from the very beginning. you read waves really well. even those rides you couldn’t turn, you knew exactly where you should go. cutting back when the wave backs off, or even dipping your head when it walls up. 99.9% of surfers have no idea. that is remarkable.

I just saw your latest video on this along with this one. Thanks for posting this, surfing is very tough to learn alone and sometimes very frustrating. I'm looking like you did in january, maybe a little worse hahaha. I simply can't pop up in 5ft waves (either do it too late or too early) and when I get close I wipe out. Today I got absolutely smashed by almost every set and left the sea feeling like trash. Good thing there's always tomorrow, the sea will be smaller and I hope I can catch something. It's very inspiring to see how quickly you can progress given a good amount of practice.

It’s fascinating how instead of choosing a stance you surf frontside on both rights and lefts, your switch stance is very uncommon and unique to you. I don’t know if choosing a stance would improve your surfing. You would have to learn to surf backside which is an aspect your surfing lacks. But keep doing you, as long as your having fun.

You should choose either goofy foot or regular foot instead of switch footing it. You display an awkwardness when you surf and if you choose one stance, your stronger one, that awkwardness will go away relatively quickly. Also, when you surf with your back to the wave you will have opportunities to complete different moves and barrel riding techniques that are super fun. I don't know where you got the idea to always surf with your face to the wave, but it is definitely not good. Backside surfing is a very large part of every surfer's arsenal. After watching you briefly it seems like you should be goofy foot, but you need to choose your stronger side and stick to it.
@meeksurf Жыл бұрын
Funny you should say that. I’ve recently started going backside. My next video(coming out next week) I surf a left and it’s all backside. Dude looking at the first 22 secs I was like "Why does it look like he's poppin up switch"? Turns out, you were 😅 As remarkable as that is, I personally think you should have a preferred stance which seems to be regular and stick to that. It depends on whether you wanna be 'average level' in both stances or intermediate on a single stance. Switch is also really counterproductive for your muscle memory as you're literally doing the opposite movements. My two cents... Actually as I finished the video I realized your fs wraps have more flow on the lefts and you also have better posture, but you can generate more speed on the rights but you're not holding as much and way more fidgety and with straighter legs and too narrow of a stance. Need to find a way to combine both in a single stance haha Good job nonetheless! 🤙🏻
