My 10 FAVOURITE Depeche Mode Songs !!

I can't say I disagree with any of your picks. I'm sure my top ten DM songs change daily based on my mood, etc. But here's my top ten from the top of head without much thought. I'm sure I'm leaving some awesome songs off. 10. People are People (the song that introduced me to DM) 9. Somebody (classic Gore ballad) 8. Only When I Lose Myself (hate the video, but love the song) 7. But Not Tonight / Home (calling it a tie because I'm not including honorable mentions) 6. Death's Door (love this song; the Jazz Mix is great) 5. My Joy (SOFAD is my favorite album and My Joy my favorite B-side) 4. Stripped ('nuff said) 3. Shake the Disease (for all those reasons you said) 2. In Your Room (epic and dark; I prefer the album version to the Zephyr mix) 1. Enjoy the Silence (maybe a bit overplayed, and yet I can't get tired of this song)

It's hard to disagree with anybody's top 10 Depeche Mode songs. I like 116 Depeche Mode songs. If you asked me to create a top 10 out of that I would have a panic attack.

Oh, snap! Go Vaughn! _But Not Tonight_ is my #1 Depeche Mode song and my favorite song of all time. But it wasn't until 2005, right AFTER the live concert, that I realized it. I listened to it on the way home. I needed that song just at the right moment. It was that 'Touring the Angel' concert that I felt good again, and that song afterwards that brought me back. Has tremendous meaning for me. 4:52 - YUP!

VG, my man, I really enjoyed this video, especially with Your piano playing! So nice!!! And I totally agree with your number 1 pick, I adore this song as well so much!!! And I totally get your emotions, 'cos I feel the same... 🤩I guess, we all feel the same... 🥰 When Charlize Theron - one of my favourite actresses of all time - called Depeche Mode as a "soundtrack of her life" I was just about to cry. Fantastic choices!! But Not Tonght holds a special place. My friends and I would always listen to this together back in our University days when we'd all come back home alone after a night out, lol. Seriously, imo I'd also include, Lie To Me, Higher Love, Personal Jesus (especially the extended album version) and To Have and to Hold.

I really enjoyed this video, Vaughn and, no, you were not being anal or pretentious. Now, I have been watching your videos for years and I think I can now affirm that you are not primarily a Depeche Mode fan but rather a fan of the 1986-1993 Depeche Mode, what you called the GOLDEN ERA. This is just fine. These songs are intimately linked to your youth and/or to some very personal and emotional experiences. I know because I feel the same way That being said, my own Top Ten is slightly different and it’s a very very difficult task to come up with only 10 songs. This might change tomorrow. For today, here we go: 10 - See You 9 - Leave in Silence 8 - Somebody 7 - It Doesn’t Matter Two 6 - Stripped 5 - The Love Thieves 4 - Halo 3- Never Let Me Down Again 2 - Waiting For The Night 1 - But Not Tonight Honorable mentions to Shake The Disease and everything on Violator and to Walking in My Shoes and It’s No Good and Home and to Ghosts Again and all the hits they did over the years.

I've stumbled upon your channel by accident because KZbin recommended watching this video. Man, this was an amazing list. Well done! So, here are my Top 10: 1. Home - For whatever reason, I just love the song, and it defines for me the talent of Martin 2. World In My Eyes - Yes, Kraftwerk vibes. I just say "Electric Café". This song amongst a few others made me change the instrument from drums to keyboard 3. Blasphemous Rumors - To this day, this song brings me to tears. Such a darkness, such a lack of compromise, just brilliant music 4. Halo - Exactly for the same reason you like it as well 5. Shake The Disease - Haunting, just haunting, such a beautiful song. 6. But Not Tonight - I instantly fell in love with this song when I heard it for the first time 7. A Question Of Lust - Again, such a beautiful song 8. Photographic - To this day one of the best songs ever recorded 9. Enjoy the Silence - The definition of a change of season, one of my coming-of-age songs 10. In Your Room - I love it for the same reason like you It's really interesting that in both your and my list is not a single song after "Ultra". The reasons are obvious. Fortunately, they reconciled me with "Memento Mori". Now, I'll go ahead and take the other way around. Let's see what you think are the worst songs from the lads.

And your last video was amazing, I hated some of the ones you hated too and for the same reasons so can't be a coincidence. some songs are just THAT bad for me tho the nr.1 goes to Policy of truth, truly Violator is a masterpiece, If i have to list my 3 favourite dm albums, i would say 1) violator 2) music for the masses 3) ultra Behind the wheel is one of those songs where the single and album version are so different that you start to love them both for different reasons Stripped is a great song from a very uneven album

Thought top 2 songs couldn´t be anything other than NLMD and ETS then followed by Stripped. 2 songs I´d think would be deserving top 10 or at least an honorable mention that didn´t is Higher Love, live version and then the one song from DM after Alan´s departure that is actually excellent: Should be higher.

Great band and for me is Personal Jesus sort of a pivoting point. Before and after...both nice eras but different. First era a bit of adolescent optimism and hope. Second era seasoned with life I'd discribe it. Top 10 songs with most bands depend what mood you're in with most of the time the top 3 or so unchanged.

Of course again you can not do it objectively, yet keep adding Alan, Alan, Alan... I admire your videos, you came a long way, kudos to you, but in my opinion you kind of keep shooting yourself in the foot, because the profesionality, educational side of your videos, all the time and energy involved gets diminished or overshadowed by the fact, that you seems so compromised by Alan...I respect your views and opinion but it could be done in more causious kind of way, which would put you in a completely different ball game with your videos... I even signed up for your paid channel but was put off by above mentioned topic. It is a suggestion or just my opinion, but I know a lot of people that are sharing my views.
