I made one from scrath. I live in Brazil. It´s normal to get 32° Celcius . I have a AMD FX 9590 and a Ryzen 9 and another AMD Phenon II X6 computers here in my studio. I work with Post Production. So many fans are annoying sound to hear constantly. So a bought a 1/3hp Condenser Unit from Embraco, capable to near 12 tons of cooling. The water chiller is outtside the room. So with tree pumps, pumped the the cooling fluid at -30°C to the 3 computers , with almost no sound of fans. This is a very good solution. at full load in a rendering process for example, obviously the cpus is not a 100% load , but around 60%, they running cool, arount 12 to 20°C. Very good. Good video from you. Keep the good job. Best regards, Leon.

Now, can we FINALLY TEST a working motherboard strapped to the roof of your car driven at 100+ KMH (60 MPH) to see how much cooling the motherboard and CPU would receive with a STOCK CPU cooler onboard and with NO CPU cooler attached! AND THEN see whether higher and lower driving speeds would allow us to overclock more or less with or without a cpu cooler attached! Try speeds of 30 KMH, then 50KMH then 80 KMH, then 100 kmh up to to 160 KMH (100 MPH) to see just how much wind speed will cool a working motherboard!

1:35 Correction (Sorry Linus) Fluids can not be compressed! (explanation below if you care enough to read it) The compressor compresses the gas -> the condenser liquifies the hot compressed gas by cooling it down -> the expansion valve injects the fluid into the evaporator (like a spray can) -> the injected fluid expands inside the evaporator and turns to a gas again. this expansion (or phase change) requiers energy. the energy that is needed is absorbed by the evaporators surroundings in form of heat. therefor the evaporator cools it's surroundings. thermodynamics :)

The compressed fluid goes to the condenser, not the evaporator. When the compressor compresses the fluid, it heats up and gets sent to the condenser. It is hotter than the surrounding air which then leeches the heat into the environment with the help of the fans. That cooler fluid is sent to an expander valve which decreases the pressure on the fluid and cools it even more. That cool fluid goes through the evaporator radiator which will absorb the hear of the CPU. That warm fluid will go to the compressor and the cycle continues.

@TefenCa6 жыл бұрын
Too true. That and they don't care about this type of stuff as much. If they get into overclocking it is to compete with LN2 or Liquid Helium. Otherwise most are just into buying fancy looking parts with RGB lighting that they can easy assemble with some tube bending at the most. Only so many people put the effort into stuff like this or real case/system modding/building.

IDEA: After getting all that insulation on there, and connecting the hoses, spray flex seal on the remaining exposed metal of the block, and then maybe water won't collect on the outside and drip? IF the flex seal helps insulate the block (because it's not metal, it's liquid rubber in a can) then it shouldn't get as wet as the metal that is exposed to the air right?

Ah, this brings back memories. Only I did it with a mini-fridge compressor that had a freezer function, I kept an old AMD K6 going till 2006 being overclocked which is when it failed to keep up with modern games.

you got the flow direction in the refrigeration system backwards. compressor compresses the gas, then the condenser cools and condenses the gas to a liquid. the high pressure liquid is bled through a valve into the lower pressure evaporator where it absorbs heat and boils into a low pressure gas. the gas is then compressed again.

Coming from a mechanic's background you actually cocked up quite a bit, antifreeze is just at that after all a chemical agent that is resistant to freezing it's actually very bad at conducting thermal heat, that's why you add water because it's the best thermal conductor, the trade-off of course is that the freezing point then goes up and you use the antifreeze tester to balance that point where you want it.

SE2717H is probably the best secondary monitor that I have bought for $120 on sale! you can go to any Bestbuy and order it, make sure to price match or catch it in a good sale because color wise it is amazing.

I really want to see Linus and some other do this legitly and make it look good. Then test the temps under synthetic load and under games, also try to over clock it. do this on this on an intel and amd
@jakegarrett81096 жыл бұрын
I have a proper phase cooler (the gas boils in a CPU/GPU expansion block, giving you as low as -58c block temps at idle (who knows the component temp, they go all screwy at those extremes, some Intel chips show -100c which is clearly impossible and wrong, GPUs show 0c, so just something probably below freezing. Block temps are pretty much the only thing you can accurately measure). It will probably be a while before I pull out that cooler though, but here is my other channel you can sub to. UCZp2Om_w_o0ry_FQhAUp-CA I have a couple videos that are actually decent ready to export, but Vegas Pro keeps crashing every time I render them, and the current 2 vids are super low quality, so skip those. I only make interesting videos, next one will be a 120mm fan with the motor replaced from a race quad. Seems to be 120w, or 10 amps before the blades expand too much and scrape the housing, I'll see if I can get it up to 20 amps by sanding the blades, or maybe they will explode, either way it will be awesome.

Coolant moves from the compressor to the condenser. This way it is heated/pressurized to be cooled by the "hot" outside air. FYI

@doctordev975 жыл бұрын
if you don't mind never being able to remove the CPU, just use closed cell spray foam to insulate the block. it acts as a vapor barrier as well as very effective insulation and you can get it at any hardware store.

@dxalradoftwgameplay36296 жыл бұрын
They've done that in one of their budget builds + Water-cooling videos.
@jakegarrett81096 жыл бұрын
I will be doing that on my other channel (I can give a link to my other channel if you want). The radiator will have a long enough hose it can be ran outside (such as during the summer), or left inside since its winter time right now. I expect fanless capability, or maybe incredibly low rpm since I'm running 4 GPUs and a Ryzen.

J Anything no, I didnt. Turns out that i need to buy a cooler the stock one is not strong enough. This is the first time Im dealing with hardwares, didnt think they would give a cooler that is not good for my cpu.... Just dont give a cooler at all or be more expensive and give a nice cooler. Once again, I did everything right and ran fortnite for half an hour on 1280x720. Anyways we have 3 years warranty and a nice cooler is relatively cheap so its fine.
@karl26216 жыл бұрын
Put the unit outdoor then run a long insulated tubing to your PC grab another evaporator coil and pump in the chilled water thru it and use the old housing of the Window AC (with Blower of course) to house the second evaporator coil. Now you cool your PC and your room at the same Time. You just build a Chilled water Air-conditioning system that also cools down your extremely overclocked PC .

@imadecoy.6 жыл бұрын
No air means no way to exhaust heat. But you could make a cooler out of a bowl of water and a heatsink as the low pressure would cause all the water to evaporate, creating a massive cooling effect.
@Xeno_Bardock6 жыл бұрын
But we wont know for sure without experiment.
@imadecoy.6 жыл бұрын
Mystic Bardock LSSGSS No, we do know without the experiment as many similar ones have already been done. Without a cooling source I can tell you exactly what will happen. They'll boot the PC, it'll overheat, throttle, and possibly safety shutoff before they even launch a benchmark. That's a boring video I think.
