Another great series entry, Craig! Pretty much my high school soundtrack here, and a few (Hoodoo Gurus, Echo) I'd get to know once I got to college. I know your 1985 won't disappoint! Enjoy the holiday weekend 😎🎶

Totally agree - Siouxsie and the Banshees cover of Dear Prudence is definitely better than the original. The song just seems to fit her voice perfectly. Age of Consent is a brilliant album and I still play it loads. It was a 21st birthday present 🎁! Cheers Craig. 🙏

Great video Craig and a VERY tough assignment considering 1984 might be one of the best years for music ever! I am shocked SHOCKED Purple Rain was NOT on your list...That's around my top and one would think it might be for many who lived through that year. My personal #1 of the year though? David Sylvian's Brilliant Trees. It opened my ears to lots of things I wasn't into previously...world music, ambient music, jazz, modern folk...stunning arrangements and his fully matured voice just showed how far he came from the early days of Japan in the late 70's. What a solo debut. Others that would make my list: Cocteau Twins--Treasure, Marc Almond--Vermin in Ermine, Blue Nile--Walk Across the Rooftops, Tones on Tail---The Album Pop, Thomas Dolby--The Flat Earth, Frankie Goes to Hollywood--Welcome to the Pleasuredome, Pretenders--Learning to Crawl, The Smiths--The Smiths, and U2--Unforgettable Fire. I'd also include the Depeche (VERY special), Echo, Hojo, and INXS from your list as well to round out my 14, and I do love the Talk Talk, Bronski, and OMD albums as well. Were you aware the Bowie/Tina duet was on Iggy Pop's Lust for Life first? I actually prefer Iggy's version...It has more bite and personality to me while the production on Bowie's seems rather safe. You're right too...his Beach Boys cover is rather ghastly. The album isn't perfect like you alluded to. Thanks again for these!

@@electricavenuemusic9282 Purple Rain was tough to keep off the list. I maybe should’ve done a top 20 for each year but I did not! I did not know that Iggy did Tonight. I just listened to it and I liked it. The others you mentioned I do not own. I’m only familiar with one of David Sylvian’s albums (the bee one) so I’ll have to check that one out.
@electricavenuemusic92822 ай бұрын
@@CraigsVinylPlethora Glad you liked the Iggy. Weirdly I think it sounds more "Bowie" than the Bowie version does! Maybe since he produced and sang on it...then robbed it 6 or 7 years later. He already did it with China Girl so why not again?! Looked at my list again...there's actually 15 with Purple Rain back near the top. So you can kick U2 off LOL. I kid! Tough year!! Love your lists! Oh...and Sylvian had TWO bee 🐝 albums...Secrets of the Beehive and Dead Bees on a Cake. Both great!
