This is a $15 piano *cabinet* restoration.... a piano restoration includes work on the inside.

What about tuning, and other inside fixes, as it's a spinet piano?
@fh-music6922 жыл бұрын
It's a console piano, not a spinet.

All it needed was some loving. People like to dump or light these things up, when all it needs is a bit of love, and some tuning! Just picked me up a $10 1960's U.S. made Kohler & Campbell, and it's in beautiful shape! All it needed was some tuning, and that was it! $110 in total after tuning, which is hard to complain!

Wow! Nice find! Love it. I have little kiddos and they love banging on it. Mine is perfect for that and I don't have to worry about them ruining a really expensive piano.

That has been my favourite Story&Clark model since I first played one back in the early 1990s

You can get a music stand (desk) for the piano. The replacement probably will not be exactly like the original, but you might be able to contact a piano technician about obtaining a replacement music desk. You could also try having it tuned which will help to make it sound better. Then you'll have an acceptable piano that was meant for home use.

Thank you for sharing! This is perfect timing because I have my old pianos back in my home and it looks just like the one you cleaned up. I thought I was gonna have to sand it down but I hope all the tricks and tips that you presented it will work on mine as well. Thanks again.

I have an odd old upright piano with long tapered tuningpins. Is there a specific tuningtip for these pins?

Good call! I should have shown this. It looks pristine inside.

I know this video is old, but for clamping an odd shaped thing like the piano leg, try surgical tubing. Stretch it around the repair area and clip or tape it in place.

See the nay-sayers already. Did a great job cleaning up a badly cared for instrument. There are lots of simple tips for straightening out the finish on these finishes, mostly hardware store items. Sure you'll get around to other things like care and cleaning of the drop action when time allows. A good set of tools and an electronic tuner should yield reasonable results, since the original Wittnauer tuning forks are variable and come in differing frequencies depending on the tune your seeking, A440 Hz., being the most common. Have a Happy New Year my friend.

Tuning a piano is no joke so it’ll cost me $150 to get my cheap piano tuned. That’s still a fantastic deal, but not $16 cheap.

If the piano was made in 1958 the keys will be ivory(this was banned in the 70's/80's) also you can tell by the discoloration on some of the keys. If you want to get the white again leave it facing the sun which will bleach the keys perfect white again:)

nice! I’ll have to try that.

That's super cool! I have an old piano at my house, we didn't buy it, the previous owner left it here. We never had the chance to fix it, it is in good condition but it sounds deep and harsh. We never got to see the inside, but recently I found some spiders coming out. Is there a chance you can refinish it?
@shopwarrior18354 жыл бұрын
Oh nice! No, I don't do refinishing work...just for my own projects :)

piano has no music desk. Also, no attentions has been given to the instrument portion. no tuning, repairs, or regulation to make it play and sound nice. No such thing as a free piano. Plus he happened to have a full sized pick up truck. Most people have to pay to move the piano as well. Cabinet looks decent but after instrument restoration the cost will add up.
@ThePolaroid6698 ай бұрын
So you just cleaned it up, not restored it. It's in desperate need of a tune.
