@Nicholas You need to practice and believe that one day you'll get results. It may be that because I'm a younger guitarist, I'm able to get some progress and results within 1 or 2 weeks of practice. Good luck though.
@gabren61412 жыл бұрын
@Nicholas I should also say that leads are not "harder" than rhythm. Usually guitarists start out by playing the basic riffs and rhythms, and only later try playing solos and leads. Some people think that it's harder simply because they don't put as much time practicing and playing solos compared to riffs.

I mean, you're a 13 yr old kid with a multi-hundred dollar guitar and prob amp too. Someone must've believed in you enough. Kids go through phases, it's not completely out of the realm of possibility that this guy's parents thought that's what it'd be. The percentage of kids who practice instruments at a young age then give up pre/during adulthood is a majority. Not many of them are joining touring bands at age 19.

So much feeling, so much more emotion than just anger. 100% it's each to their own but massive props, congratulations (the KZbin algorithm brought me here!) and really happy that you're happy and proud of yourself, full stop!

I'm in the same boat. Turned 46 last October. I'm not a shredder. I can throw a solo out if absolutely necessary, but I prefer rhythm. I have noticed my dexterity has diminished. Malcom young to someone else's Angus if you will. I find myself using hammer-ons and pull-offs a lot more than I used to to compensate. I play within my limitations and have fun with it.

deftgoose, I'm also just starting out. Actually, I have my first lesson in a few days. I'm 52 now. I got my guitar in 1990 when I was young, but circumstances made it impossible for me to get very far at the time. I always planned to come back to it, and now, 30 years later, I'm about to do just that. When the video talked about letting other people dragging you down, and never giving up on your dreams, that really cheered me up. Maybe I'm running a fool's errand here, but if I could just learn to play well enough to find some friends that I can get together with and play a little metal music, I'd be so happy about that. I've been a music listener all my life--and as heavy metal fan since I was a teen in the 80s, but I've always been a listener. I just want to try to make a little music of my own, y'know?

Just play and learn new stuff. If you keep learning harder stuff you will get better. Like said get in the mind set and just keep pushing. From what I've seen people get stuck looking for techniques to practice and practice routines. To be honest I never really cared about that I just played stuff I liked and wanted to learn. I'm also interested in theory and read about it, I'm also teaching myself to write standard notation because why not I wanna know it. So far I can tell you for me writing the notes is not hard but reading the notes is harder. I'm no professional by any means but I won't get lost on the guitar.

@jmorrisey792 жыл бұрын
@@fancwings6134 I'm sure he put massive amounts of time and effort but there's got to be more to it than than bro. The majority of people I've known that play guitar took many more years to reach that point than what we see in this video of Bernth's progress. I for one didn't have the benefit of having better guitar players around me to show me stuff. It definitely helps to have a mentor.. and can slow you down greatly if you have to figure everything out for yourself. A good practice regimen is key.. but you can't just do the same things forever.. especially without getting bored. Sure, we have the internet and KZbin today but that wasn't the case when I was in my teens or even my early 20s.. and when you get older you don't have nearly as much free time as you did when you were younger. I think the person asking this question is trying to outline a plan or improve upon an existing one after seeing Bernth's impressive leap forward in such a short period. Responding by saying to dive in with no limits isn't really saying much. It's safe to say we all know that practice is first and foremost.. and lots of it.

The beginning of this video shows that everyone has to start somewhere and even the best players of their instruments have sounded terrible at some point. It's a progress that you go through with dedication and hard work and as the video progress you can see how much it eventually pays off. This kind of videos should be shown to all new players so they can see the progress and then imagine it in their head for themselves. It can be very inspirational.

As I got older I told people no, and I play regardless what people think as long as I don’t break any noise violations. I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t think to much about what people think just keep playing and do you cause a lot of people who don’t play an instrument think music is made in a small dark quiet closet.

I’m new to this community but have already seen several videos where you proudly share the mistakes you made…even while already regarded as a great musician who plays sold out stadiums. It’s hard to describe just how inspiring that is and all I can say is thank you for putting yourself out there and showing us that despite being seen as a god on the guitar, you’re human just like the rest of us. Bernth's progression from 2003 to 2008 seems like what an average guitarist would progress within 5 years. That's impressive. truly amazing Bernth

I really appreciate your message at the end of the video. I think most of beginners need such kind of moral support, especially from their idols. GREAT BERNTH!

You are amazing, Bro. You put the time to learn and it paid off!🎉

The tools we have for learning is so amazing but the real secret to getting good is lots practice. Sweep picking and alternate picking can be shown but one must practice to truly master the technique. So many adds that claim to give one a shortcut to getting good but it takes lots of practice and perseverance. Metal on brother

Bernth I really thank you for all of your videos. I start picking up electric guitar again after 15 years because I got an electric guitar as a present from my wife. I lost motivation at first until I watch your videos! I am 37 already but I will tell myself never too late! May be one day I can be as successful as you! Thank you very much! Looking to subscribe your patreon soon as well!

It's great to see the journey and constant growing, so often we tend to judge the musicians we see onstage and we don't really appreciate the huge amounts od practice and dedication behind a live show

Nice progress. You really took it to heart and nailed it. I really liked the slap technique you showed. Good job you!!!

This video really badass. The one thing left out though is explaining how hard you had to work to get from point A to Point B. People have been trying for decades to get around having to practice your ass off and never give up when it’s hard. This is a great illustration of how progress in guitar actually works. Success is very non linear and making these leaps in ability do not come easy.

Omg, it is such an inspirational video. Take this, 18 years of practice and still modest! His success, he deserves it, really. Seriously, he is an awesome guitar player.

Excellent progress between 13 and 14 years of age! I also loved the end of the video with "never let anyone drag you down, I believe in you" and then the next video in line is "this will make you QUIT guitar". :D

Hello Bernth, I am stunned by your guitar play. Now I am 68 and two years ago I played guitar for the first time. I love it. I regret not playing it for such a long time. Now my fingers are stiff and everything is not so quickly anymore. But the most important thing is that I love it Follow you everyday knowing that I won't be able to play so good as you. Thank you for your efforts and keep on playing.

I’ve been a keyboard player for years now. It’s my big hobby/passion. Music in general drives me. But I always wanted to learn guitar. I just picked up guitar some time ago. I absolutely suck at it and sometimes I feel like quitting all together. This video really helped me show that I’m just starting out and skill has to be earned through time and not right away.

Crongats buddy! I started to play guitar at 15 I was really obsessed to become into a world class guitarist but I gave up when I was 25/ 26 yo, now I'm 35 yo and sometimes I think what it would have happened if I would've been more persistent. This video made me realize that no matters what happen always try to seek your dreams.
