What a great way to give them some privacy, personal autonomy & the ability to learn how to live alone, while also giving them the safely net of knowing that mum & dad's place is just up the garden. Looks lovely, and is still a work in progress. Two features I really appreciate in this tiny house that I don’t see any other houses are the fact that you have actual stairs, and not a ladder to climb up to the loft. The second thing is that the roof above the bed is not 5 inches from your face, making it feel like it’s a coffin. It seems like there’s much more headspace, and that is very much appreciated.

As an almost 18 year old who plans on using the money they have saved over the past 2-3 years to build a tiny home because renting is so expensive. It’s always fun to see videos like these (Edit: I have my notifications off so I didn’t know this got likes. Thank you to people who are leaving positive comments! And to answer some questions I saw, I have been considering doing a camper renovation while I save up abit more just so that I’m in my own space earlier. And I also wanna say that while all of my personal savings for this come from me working 2 jobs as I’m no longer in school I also have a very supportive family whose property I will be on. Rent where I live is $1500-$2800 a month for studio or 1 bed 1 bath so that’s why this is cheaper and renting land from my parents for $200/month is still the best option for me if I wanna move out and still be able to actually live and save a little bit at a time. Again thanks for the positivity!)

@earthangel25225 ай бұрын
The resistance is a control and money issue. There building codes in existence in every locality. There is no code that covers tiny houses right now. So, if you are off grid, they can’t collect any money and taxes, either property, taxes, or electricity or gas charges. They also don’t want the phenomenon to grow because it’s unregulated right now, and it would be an easy way for homeless and migrant people to settle and create essentially a health and possibly crime problem. The tiny house movement is growing, however, and more and more municipalities are warming up to the idea. But it really is about money and control.

@@sherrih6375one is only cheaper than several if you are okay with the one producing less heat. That Heat Surge electric fireplace is 1500W, just like the two space heaters she is currently using. All three heaters use electrical resistance to generate heat, so they are limited in heat production efficiency. One 1500W fireplace uses half the energy of the two space heaters; but equally only outputs half the heat of the two space heaters. If they want to increase the heat they put into the home, while decreasing power consumption, they should install a heat pump such as a mini-split. Heat pump technology can either take the heat from inside your home and release it outside, to cool your home, or it can take the heat from outside your home and trap it inside, to heat your home. Because the electricity is used as a pump to move a refridgerant gas which simply carries the environment's heat, these units can supply significantly more heating for the same 1500W, with the added benefit of cooling during the summer

I love this idea, and I hope that municipalities and counties around the country take note of what California is doing to update their building code to allow this type of build. Many senior citizens in the US today cannot afford to live on their own after retirement or they need some type of daily help to manage, but they can't afford the exorbitant fees of assisted living facilities. How many families would benefit from being able to build something like this right in their yard to keep their elderly loved ones close, cared for and independent? And yes, young people who are being priced out of the dream of owning their own home would thrive in tiny homes, which would allow them to own their own home, save and also pay down student loan/other debts. There are so many good reasons to say yes to tiny houses. ❤

Since everyone else commented on that I will just say, You did great on the tour. It is a really cute tiny house. You are lucky you have a cute little place to come home to. It is really cool that your eighteen year old sister has a cute little place like that.

I wanna know how much it costs and how to get land to have it in and how at 18 she has this. I'm 30 and am homeless and thus would be a dream for me .

@@kristovapalenkova5884 People work hard to get things that they want. It really doesn't matter how she got the money , but she busted her butt to do it. I was twenty three when I bought my first home. I work to my tail off until I became disabled. I live on a very , very small budget but I keep a roof over my head. There are many things that can help you get off the street. I hope you will seek out help and work hard for everything that you want.

Your sister's little space is awesome!! I have a small grannyy flat (not tiny, ~ 650 sq feet - so full bath and stacked laundry) and I love having an induction cooktop and air fryer!

The camping potty is for "in case we ever really need to use the bathroom"? That would be everyone, every day. Where ELSE would you go, the nearest tree?!
@claritey5 ай бұрын
That was my question. Also if the outdoor shower comes down in the winter do they just not shower or where do they do that? I'm thinking the tiny house is in their parents backyard and she's only partially independent.
@A.Girl.Has.No.Name.5 ай бұрын
I absolutely agree, just based on the lack of any real food in the fridge (none in the freezer) which generally equals: going inside for dinner with parents/family. That's NOT to say I wouldn't have been thrilled with such a set up at her age, however, (esp if it had a private entrance) Hell, even NOW I'd like it!! (since I'm disabled and "get" to live with my dad and stepmom)
@stirrednotshaken48375 ай бұрын
It’s safe to say the tiny house is on the back of parents property, just by her wording…when I come home and back here. And maybe the sister buys her groceries daily since the fridge is so small.

That’s kind of insulting don’t you think? A glorified tree house?

@@kayla1245768 My apologies, is glorified play house a more suitable reference? Either way it's a fun way for a young kid to jump out of the nest, and linger around it, while preparing to actually fly away from the nest. Such a sweet little place, either way. A club house vibe.

Lady! My third eye felt so different yesterday… it was not a headache it was a unique feeling… like a tender, sore, pinched feeling in my third eye. It was so notable that I reached out to a spiritual friend about it. Today, I slept mostly all day. The kind of intense sleep like when you’re young & experiencing growing pains.
