The griptru chuck you had on there to begin with was a very nice one

It was but unfortunately it will not run true no matter what you do, so unfortunately it’s of no use although I do prefer it’s smaller size, and obviously it superior build quality, I am not a fan of Chinese tools or tooling full stop but choice can be limited & cost is a big factor .

I have a older ML7 Myford lathe made in 1952 or 53, I am in the US so was lucky to find one here.

They are a great machine even though sometimes over priced for parts but I have to say I’m now happy, I at 1st thought I had made a mistake getting rid of my old Drummond, I think I was suffering from some kind of bereavement 😁😁

I agree that's a marvellous machine. Mine's a similar age (and so am I). I notice you've fitted a new chuck. Was there a problem with the three-jaw chuck that came with your Super 7? I only ask because it was a 'GripTru' chuck, which can be adjusted to achieve excellent concentricity - it's a bit of a premium item.

I don’t believe it was the original chuck it was mounted on a plate , I could not get it to run true no matter what I tried, so I just bought this Chinese chuck, I do have a 4 jaw and for the best accuracy I have a set of Shublin collets.

Hi John. Great to hear your getting used to using your Myford Super 7 lathe. You mentioned the awkwardness of filming in a small workshop. Have a look at this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnu8Y41moruSZ5osi=SMIHQ-kyJNvVUjO6 this setup will help you overcome that problem. Take care. Tony
