I built this truck 10ish years ago and has been a great truck for me but nothing is forever so its time for crusty to have a new home, but l have a replacement in the works,

Unless you put the car for scrape because both the engine and transmission died on you, thus isn't worth the money to get it fixed. Yeah, I had that happen to me. The body and frame were great, but the engine and transmission decided to die on me. Well, the engine was getting ready to die when the transmission died. It had rod knock. Still technically saveable if you had the expertise and equipment to tear the engine apart and such...but for someone like me who is homeless....yeah not really possible.

When I read the title I said “Oh Nooooo”, not Crusty! Now that I understand that it is a loan to a museum for a year I think it’s great that more people will be able to see Crusty. Congratulations, not very many people have a car (or truck) on display in a nice museum.

To be displayed at a museum is such an honor, feel proud you should be. Some of family members were displayed in an art museum a few years ago we had 4 generations of artwork displayed in a wing of the museum. From famous pottery from my great grandfather to my father with oil paintings and niece with watercolors paintings that have been displayed at the Prada in Madrid Spain. Glad your not getting rid of crusty

I was sooooo happy to see he was going to a museum - then so much happier when I heard he was just on loan! This is a serious validation of the rustoration approach! Everyone loves Krusty and now thousands of people will get to see him in person. It is an amazing accomplishment to have your work selected to be in such a display. Congratulations man - the curator was right: it's the person behind the work that is the real story.

I did sell a few vehicles I regretted later. It took me five years to get my old '55 Chevy wagon back. It's not the wagon, it's the memories whenever I see it.

@@23bobjr I always watch all videos to the end. Maybe you were answering to someone else. Many vehicles in museums are on loan. It gives more people a chance to see things they'd never see and cleans out a garage space for more junk.

I can relate. The pride isn't driving around your "project vehicle". It's what it took, to achieve that goal. How many times, have WE sat on the milk crate, behind the wheel of our project, and yearn for that feeling of accomplishment. Everybody's first vehicle wasn't the prettiest but, you felt like a million bucks. And now, it's time for renewing that feeling, again. Thanks for the ride Darren. EDIT: Oh ! Hoovie's Garage had one of his cars in a museum, but it was the "Pimp My Ride" Grand Voyager, which looked like a disco ball on wheels. Crusty will me much better to view in a museum: No need to wear sunglasses to avoid the glare!

Everytime i see crusty it reminds me of my dad, he was a mechanic and worked mainly on T3's but also T2 and a few T1's. He passed away '99.

My dad bought a truck exactly like yours in exactly the same color when I was about 17 years old. That truck took a lot of punishment from me as a teenager however it was a tough truck and served my father well as a builder/carpenter.

After seeing the title of the video I just could not watch it right then. Too many mixed feelings. Couldn’t believe it was true. Finally decided to watch after crawling into bed for the night. Have to admit I was happy to notice the first comments that showed. But that didn’t stop the heart strings from being pulled while hearing about Crusty & Mustie restoring each other. Crusty most certainly deserves to be in that fancy building & admired by all that pass through. It was this vw that got me stuck on your site. Had an aircraft mechanic friend that had a small crane bolted to the back so he could pull lycoming engines. My 1960 van was slow and unstoppable and was the car I learned to drive in. You and that truck have brought me so many wonderful memories.

I must admit you got me i actually felt a bit sad i thought our little crusty was going and had visions of someone painting her and putting stupid wheels etc on old crusty. She's in the perfect place and im glad she's doing such a good thing but sad she's gone on holiday and we won't see her for a bit. Stay safe crusty we love you
