Hello, and thanks for coming along with me once again as I dive into my '65 Corvair project.

My first learning of driving a vehicle when I was about 10 yrs old, 1961 Chevy campsite Corvair p/u. This was in the 60s. Enjoyed driving that truck. Enjoyed ur video.

My first car was a 66 Corsa. It would freeze you out in the winter with the vinyl seats and then the heater would smoke you out until it burned the oil off the exhaust manifolds. I installed an am/fm cassette player with a Craig power booster in between the front seats with two box speakers in the package tray behind the back seat. It was a fun car to drive. The faster it went the more stable it got. Even with the stock 13" wheels and tires. Great series of videos. Got to keep the classics on the road. God Bless. John 3:16

Me too ! And when I graduated high school my brother got it and when he graduated high school the next brother down got it and when he graduated high school the next door neighbor bought. So it was in our neighborhood for over 8 years.

The a/c equipped cars use an adapter which rotates the oil filter 90 degrees. This could explain the lack of clearance with the pulley. Glad to see one back on the road!

I actually have the filter in the standard position. I removed the A/C equipped oil filter adapter. So everything should be correct....Thanks for watching and for commenting!

You know this has been an intresting journey with you. so far. I had several Corvairs back in the early 70s and pretty well made up my mind that Ralph Nader didn't know what he was talking about. I bought several when their popularity was on the decline and really enjoyed owning and driving them. I thought they were great cars then and still do. will keep up as you go along with this one ,.have enjoyed it so far and will keep up. Tanks for the Entertainment.!

Congratulations on getting the Corvair back on the road. I've really enjoyed your videos, especially the Corvair episodes!..I'm presently getting my 63' 2 door Monza, 4 speed back on the road. It was my first car back in 1969, and now I'm 70 years old. Been sitting in the garage for many, many years. I really enjoyed driving the Corvair , so. I love the color of that car and am looking to buy one like it. Mine may need some rust patch panels on the back of the front fenders, and some patches to the floor pans. I hope mine looks nearly as nice as yours. Its crazy how much this engine looks like the six cylinder Lycoming and Continental aircraft engines. I know many homebuilt aircraft are powered by altered Corvair engines.

My 63 corvair was that same teal color or whatever they called it. The paint was in pretty bad conditions so I had it painted light blue and then my younger brother had it painted dark blue. I guess that was so his friends wouldn't think he got a hand-me-down car from. 😂

Your vibration dampener needs to be replaced. Mine looked like that when I put my engine together, but the dampener failed a few miles down the road. The rubber in the dampener came completely out and I had to have the car towed home. The replacement dampener did not have any rubber poking out.

Just checked out the video. Great stuff. So this is telling me I have to set my timing mark at 14 btdc before installing the distributor, and then adjust the distributor to point to #1?. I know mine is not set this way. I believe mine is set to zero tdc then the distributor is pointing at @ 1. Maybe this is why my 65 doesn’t want to stay running.

Check your manual for your correct timing first. Each engine/transmission option seemed to have different timing. Or you can email me what horsepower engine and transmission you have and I can tell you. However, because your distributor is already installed you simply need to loosen the clamp and adjust it to achieve the proper timing. You don't necessarily need to do what I did. I did all of that because I was starting from square one with the engine taken apart.

Hey Jay, Question here! I have a 37 Chevy and my brake pedal pushes down to the floor, but does not come back up on its own. I have to assist it. But when I press the clutch in, it will spring the brake back up. I’m not sure what I need to work on. Bleeding? Brake adjustment? Master cylinder rebuild? What do you think? My grandfather completely restored the car to factory about 15 years ago and I’d like the vehicle to stop when I get it running and on the road. Thanks!
