Way back in the 1972 I was able to buy a 142E from a small Volvo dealer in Ontario, Canada. We took the time to search Volvo parts numbers and found the Volvo factory rally springs were quite affordable. Best $200.00 I ever spent on options. Forget lowering, go up!

140 are great cars... I owned a 1972, 142E which was the ''hot'' version of the 140 series... It had the B20E engine (high compression Bosch Jetronic fuel injected engine) coupled to the m41 manual short shifter 4 speed overdrive transmission, the grand luxe all leather interior and the british Smith''s gauges in the instrument panel... A beautifull car !!!

I drove a ‘72 142E from Tucson Az to Poughkeepsie NY in 1982, to attend culinary school. With a pregnant wife, morning sickness. My then-17 year old nephew then put an overdrive on it. In my driveway. In the dark. In the rain. And it worked. Loved that car.
