My 1981 Ford Granada

Just a slideshow of my 1981 Ford Granada. Based on the fox body Fairmont, it actually handles and keeps up with modern traffic fairly well. The little straight 6 doesn't get the best MPG however. But that's expected of this smog strangled era.

Pretty cool ride! Fox body cars are definitely classics now, I love all of them. Whitewall tires, two tone green exterior with a green interior, bench seats, column shift, six passenger seating, rear ash trays... yeah they don't make 'em like they used to! And never will again, so we need to preserve and cherish these classics.

You could put on a grey suit and pretend you're an '80s Fed, lol. Jokes aside, great looking car. I think some of the most fun you can have with old cars lies in the more common models that one could see on the roads regularly at the time. I feel it gives you a more authentic experience of what it was really like for normal folks back then.

Recently we sent my great grandpas 59 Cadillac fleetwood to the shop for the transmission and my grandpas 65 Ford galaxy into the garage. It’s nice to see people hold onto family cars.

We had the 1982 Cougar wagon version back in the day.Nice vehicle with the new for 82 3.8 V6.Never had any trouble except for a fan belt squeak that could never be fixed.Was the last American car for Pops.Toyota and Honda for him from then until the end in 2018.Sold the Cougar to a guy at work who drove it up to 120000 miles when the head gasket said goodbye.

Beautiful state of preservation. Congratulations! In Europe, the Ford Granada had another bodywork. In my city is a Ford Mercury Monach owned by a garage and he still uses it.

Reminds me of my mom's '83 Mercury Zephyr when I was a kid. Very similar vehicles in every way on the same fox body platform.

Beautiful looking 81 Ford Granada. I remember when Ford offered cars that looked like this. I was too young to drive at the time. But I thought the later Granada models, such as this, more attractive than earlier Granada models, even though they kept the same body from the beginning.

I drove the two toned green glx this exact color with limo tinted windows 1989 Temple TX.....and for some strange reason everyone loved the green machine 🤷🏼

I had the 82 with the V6.That was a powerhouse that got great gas mileage.I wish cars here in Maine would stay as nice as yours.But the road salt we use in winter eats cars for lunch.

Custom mixed vinyl dye. Some paint shops offer it in spray cans. Works great!

My family had a new 1977 Granada Ghia in dark jade metallic with a two tone green leather interior. It looked beautiful but was plagued with problems over the 10 years we had it.

The Ford Granada, my father had one. He actually got it up on two wheels by doing donuts. My story doesn't end there one day while driving along in the car I was around six years old sitting in the front seat. My father swerved and slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting a dog. Well doing the arm out trying to restrain your passenger (not I wasn't wearing the seat belt because I was too small for it since I was only 6 years old) doesn't work in my head slammed into the dashboard cracking it. Then not long after that happened which left me with a pretty decent mark on my forehead for weeks. I had a seizure and was diagnosed with epilepsy. Did bouncing my head off the dashboard cause my epilepsy I don't know it's a neurological condition in the brain and it wouldn't surprise me if it triggered it. So if you ever come across a brown Ford Granada with a light tan interior with a crack in the dashboard it might have been the one that I bounced my head off of. Yeah I forgot the bonus, I grew out of the epilepsy but now as an adult the likelihood of the epilepsy returning is a strong likelihood.

M W S similar to my story, my parents had a 78 Granada. A truck pulled out in front of us. My dad swerved and we still hit truck, than on coming car hit us. I was in the back seat. I flew up and hit my head on dash. It was 1982. My parents then got a Pontiac 6000.

MMine was dark blue (dark blue interior), got it in 1983, from the TEXINS car lot, in Richardson, TX, on payroll deduction from Texas Instruments. Them were the days!

I had a navy blue 1981 Ford Granada. Surface rust on the hood, roof and trunk. The vacuum hose system was a nightmare and a few other things. But it was still a good car. I deeply miss it.

They should have used efi with the 6. Ford carbs were a pain in that Era especially the venturi variable on the 302.
