Thank you for sharing Anita.....One suggestion I have is when a fabric is not quite in your color wheel to add a piece that is...for instance if you take their silver/white fabric and made a sleeveless dress you could put a outer garment in a complementary fabric.
@AnitabyDesign6 жыл бұрын
Yes, Towanda, EXACTLY! When Victoria said not to wear it near my face, I got the same idea. That's what I plan to do with the silver/white fabric. I'll make the skirt and a top in one of my colors.

All wonderful choices Anita! And let’s be real...you DO look great in every color!! I have a hard time with yellow on my skin tone. It makes me look jaundiced and I actually don’t feel well wearing it. My interior design teacher taught us the psychology of colors and it’s been valuable information. How fun Anita! I've totally done the same at times! Sometimes deals are too good to pass up. The tie dye navy print is totally your style, and I think the coral and the green florals look lovely on you. I think that bright white with the purple flowers could get softened with a matching bolero in one of those purples. Or, you could get really crazy and do an overlay of a purple mesh which would soften the white but also let those gorgeous flowers shine through! I'm glad you went ahead with doing a color analysis--I know for me it was the best money I've ever spent. It's so valuable to be able to walk into a store and laser into what looks awesome, what's kind of meh, and what needs to be left where it is!

Thanks for sharing your shopping fun with us! LOL. Story of my life: "I went there for a button...Got a cart just in case, and lost my mind...." I love that you chose so many knits. As a beginner, I've only just sewn my first project with a knit and I'm getting used to how to manage straight seams, work curves, and adjust thread tension/ stitch length. When I shop fabrics, I try to buy 4 - 5 yards at a time in case I want to make a long dress or a matching skirt and top. That might be overkill, but that also gives me room to make mistakes and start again.
@AnitabyDesign6 жыл бұрын
Hey Mieca! Congratulations on your first project. Love that you're working on your techniques. So important! Yes, I buy 3 - 4 yards at a time if I don't have a pattern in mind, for the same reason. I always want enough to make a maxi dress. Not overkill.

I know what you mean about walking past the materials at JoAnn Fabrics, except I am the person behind the counter so I see all the material people bring up to cut. I started there three weeks ago and have been very good by not purchasing any of the adorable fabrics on a whim until last night.There was this beautiful Christmas fabric of pinecones, garland and some sparkle. I am going to make a table cover and cover for my entertainment center. After the customer got her cut I knew I needed to purchase right away. As far as those item numbers being the same they shouldn't be. Just as you suggested, I would call your local JoAnn's store to see whether they have those in stock or if another store close by may have it.

I love your fabric choices. When you purchase fabric how much yardage do you usually buy?
@AnitabyDesign6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I usually purchase about 3 or 4 yards unless I have something specific in mind that I want to sew.

Hello Mrs. Anita, love all the fabrics with purple in it (My favorite color ). That has happened to me as well, going in for one thing and come out with tons others...totally normal 😉. Enjoyed the haul and I plan to also have a color analysis done this year as well.

Oh, you will be so happy to have the color analysis.
