That will be nice when you get it right. Beautiful. It's ok. We all make something that doesn't fit at some point, the exception not the rule right. Yes, keep it pushing and make another😮
@AnitabyDesign7 сағат бұрын
Yes, definitely the exception and not the rule.

I am a Cashmerette Club member! I love their patterns and Tutorials. I also subscribe to your KZbin channel. I truly learn a lot even though I have been sewing for longer than you are old. No offense. I only sew clothes for myself now so I take care in the processes I use. I also quilt but, I usually give those as gifts. You can only really store/display so many quilts.
@AnitabyDesign6 сағат бұрын
Well, that's a huge compliment that you've been sewing that long and follow my channel. Like you, I love learning, and we can all learn from each other.

Thank you, this is a very thoughtful and well executed tutorial! Two questions - after you measured the neckline, you said 21 inches. What length did you cut the elastic? You stretched it slightly as you stitched. Why didn't you model the organza overlay with the dress! You look lovely in the dress.

Thank you so much for asking this question because I didn't mention it. Add 2" to the final measurement of the elastic because you will extend it 1" beyond the shoulder seam on each side. Unfortunately, I made the overdress too small.

Is the understitch similar to the stitch in the ditch?
@AnitabyDesign2 күн бұрын
Stitch in the ditch is stitching directly onto the seam line. Understitch is stitching to the right of the stitch line onto the facing or lining.

This video saved me today. I could not make heads or tails as to what what was going on with that collar. All my prior experience always said to fold up and do this and that. Mine ended up being to bi i think in part because its unisex and the shoulders are too wide. Ill try to find one that isnt that way

Thank you!! I rushed threw a shirt for my son- it was a waffle knit in an already oversized pattern and it was huge! I thought I could just serge away and make a quick job of it but these tips are SO helpful.
@katievanderhoeven132315 күн бұрын
Also would you use clear elastic or stay tape for bands for a neck opening? The V neck I made really stretched out too.
@AnitabyDesign5 күн бұрын
I’m glad you found the tips helpful!
@AnitabyDesign5 күн бұрын
Actually, either one will work. But I would probably choose based on the size of the opening and fabric type. If it's a really wide opening on thin fabric, I would probably go with stay tape. For smaller openings and thicker fabrics, clear elastic works well.

My decorative #1 stitches are not sewing correctly! Any ideas? For instance, #28 does not stitch as shown looking like a Christmas tree. On mine. Nowhere near that design. It’s that was on all of the designs.

I'm not sure what's happening. I recommend taking it into your local repair shop.

Nice save with the darts. I thought I am the only person to do that. Ha ha ha. I just lost 15 lbs and three of my favorite rib knit shirts were gaping on the front so I put in tiny little darts to take up the slack. I had lost 2” up top. 😊 This looks very nice.

I bought the button cover gadget but I can’t get the one piece to stay inside of the actual button.
@AnitabyDesign17 күн бұрын
Are you pressing it down until it's secure? I haven't had any issues.
@cleanqueen7517 күн бұрын
@ I pressed it down so hard that I bent the button! My buttons don’t have those spikey things for the fabric to grip onto either so I had a hard time getting the fabric tucked inside.

If you're using a fashion fabric for both sides, do you need to keep the back the same width and press inward to stop fraying? Thanks :)
@AnitabyDesign17 күн бұрын
I would definitely press inward for a clean edge.

Hi Anita. I have been sewing for 52 years and I still make epic mistakes despite my striving for excellence. It is refreshing to hear that I am not the only one who when faced with a challenge has taken shortcuts because the alternative in time and effort to fix the error is just not worth it. I continue to be inspired by you.
@AnitabyDesign17 күн бұрын
Thank you for sharing this because beginners need to know that no matter how long you sew, there will be mistakes.

This is a gorgeous pattern and a great look at the process of making it! Thank you for including the mistake - I caught a thread in something I was making recently and had to repair my fabric with an awkwardly-located darn, and it’s good to know other people make mistakes too!
