I had dinner at the Four Seasons in London, and Shirley was across the room! She was actually duscusding the musical genius of Aretha Franklin, her speaking voice is loud and we all could hear her. I so wish I'd have asked for a photo or autograph - or just said hello and told her how fabulous she is.

Ah Roskoe hearing your first few words regards her soft voice ...I was thinking 'Wait for it" lol She was one of my mum's fav singers....and I actually saw her show here in Australia with my mum. I was so impressed I became a big fan. One huge hit for her was "Big Spender" which I would play as I vacuumed the house and sang along with her lol (with windows closed of course lol) James Bond movies had her singing 'Goldfinger' 'Diamonds are Forever' Love your choices of late....Have a few of Barbra Streisand to view yet though. I’m so jealous I had a chance to see her in Jersey nearly 30 years ago but my friends laughed at me so being under peer pressure i didn’t. Did you know Royal Mint have just brought out coins ( high honour) of her. I’ve bought the cheapest at £17.50 they have sold out of the £5,000 one!!!!!!!! No one deserves it like her with all the tragedies in her life and she’s still beautiful. Apparently she’s really nice as well, Australian anc British superstars are generally far nicer than other nations. I’d love to see her perform but too late 😿😿😿😿😿😿😿

I KNEW you'd love this lady, Roskoe. I've seen her perform live several times and the experience from the audience is other-wordly. Her voice lifts the rafters like nobody, and you can feel the power go right through you. I thought perhaps you may have heard of her through her Bond movie theme songs... she's the only one to record three songs for the 007 franchise..."Goldfinger," "Diamonds are Forever," and "Moonraker." She has a tremendous catalog of songs spanning over 60 years. Dame Shirley is now 86 years old, very much alive, and can still blow those pipes. Also check out from a 1996 TV special (perhaps even the same one), "I Am What I Am." I swear to heaven, I am so sure I might have suggested this song by Ms. Bassey a long time ago. But with a link to a different video of this. We both may have forgotten, or I am a total idiot and might not have suggested this to you at all. Way back in the day she was the "bomb" LOL she did a title song on a 007 Movie, maybe more than one. She was so gorgeous, I have an old vinyl album by her. She has pure conviction in her songs as if it's in her guts. She belts her songs out and no pussy footing around. Not sure she is still performing or maybe passed away. You need to do more of her songs.
