As a DSO founder over 15 years ago, the future of dentistry includes a larger percentage of dentist being associates within the structures of a corporate entity. Being on both sides, I'd love to see solo practitioners being successful in holding off the merging of offices; however, the profession (as we've seen in Medicine) is going down the path of larger corporations and insurance companies controlling the dental providers destiny.@@DoctorRanaDDS

I must say, you are a horse of a different color. You got my attention when you replied to a comment I made on another video. For the record, I am neither a dental professional or an aspirant in the field. I am a patient/dental consumer and devils advocate ISO a clinician I deem worthy of my hard earned dollars. On the plus side, your candidness is appreciated. On the minus side, you are young and inexperienced, especially for those who are in need of full upper/lower arch restoration. I do not begrudge you or any new graduate of earning the excellent salary you deserve but what makes me nervous is the subject of production quotas in a practice. I also worked in an industry and for big companies that had production quotas and one thing becomes clear; in those environments, something is sacrificed and that something is quality. You do project a modicum of authenticity and that engenders interest in working with you. For now, I'll wish you continued growth and success.

what was the total production of the practice for that month ? how many asistants/hygenists you had ? Proud of you to see you happy like that and that you made your parents proud! Im about to graduate in a month and looking around for good jobs!

so I worked corporate and the compensation structure is a bit different. I got paid 16-20% of the gross profit collected from the office that month after expenses. we did around 380k including hygiene, OS, and endo. all 3 bring in a significant portion of that total sum. I had 6 assistants, 2 hygienists. my advice is to move far away into an area of high demand. you'll get paid a ton but more importantly you'll learn faster than everybody else you graduate with. best of luck with the job search. reach out if you need me!

My plan post grad is to either with NHSC (just applied) for the two year scholarship or just try to get a job (most likely associate) and make as much as possible so I can get out of debt.

Hey doc what procedures do you do mostly? Is it only surgery or a mix of general dentistry? Also are you doing other procedures like endo or mostly general and the oral surgery (extractions/implants)

hey! so it depends on my current job. i used to work for a dso that is heavy on dentures on extractions. then when i switched to private practice i was doing a mix of everything, which i didn’t like as much. then my next gig was mainly a surgery implant job (which i prefer). i really want to pivot into mainly surgery and cosmetics. what do you like?

@@DoctorRanaDDS im planning to go corporate with heartland and get well rounded. Tkae their CE and eventually get competent with implants, surgical extractions and some endo. Eventually for practice ownership. Surgery is very interesting but I feel as though the options to only do that are limited for a GP. Some corps like affordable dentures and implants have it available though

heartland was #1 on my list for the longest because they teach their docs EVERYTHING! so you have such a great mindset with picking heartland. they even give you over the shoulder endo CE. so cool. they have an implant pathway too, takes a few years but youll be really good once you go through it.
