Great video! I always try to recommend to my friends interested in healthcare that dental hygiene is a great career. Even though the demand has vastly increased for hygienists, the number of programs have not increased very much at all. Dental programs are opening which are saturating the market with dentists

I know a guy making $55/hr right now doing hygiene and a chick making $65/hr. Only problem im seeing is dentists don’t really want to pay that and choosing to do it themselves. Also a dentist is making 190k before tax on average so naaah thats not slight differences 😂 but awesome video i have to go check out your vacation vlog man havent had time! Best!

dentists i know have monthly payments of $5,000 a month after tax to loan payments. some dentists don’t even make 190k. avg starting salary is 600/day. yes there’s potential to increase it obviously. the loans and tuition are getting outrageous. how much is your total expected loan debt???

Have a question, just find out. I got packets of 4-5 in the back. The rest is 2s. But I don’t have bleeding gums or swelling of gum/ red gums. Dentist said I might need deep cleaning. But she also I have beautiful: healthy teeth. I floss and brush every day and night

I recently went a new dentist cuz my left the practice and they suggested I get srp, mind you ive never missed my 6 month cleaning and always look after teeth religiously, I don't eat too much sugar or smoke or even drink, the new dentist said I needed deep cleaning SRP, he said my pocket were deep, my previous dentist never said anything about SRP and has never said I had gum disease, I just didn't trust the new office and I decided to get a second opinion, the new place I visited said my pockets were 3cm or lower, I had my normal routine cleaning with the new one and decided to cancel all my appointments for the deep cleaning, my new dentist said they over prescribe srp and if I needed SRP my last dentist who I saw back in March would've seen it, you don't develop gum disease that fast. People wonder why so many people don't trust dentists, If I didn't get a second opinion I would've done a procedure I believe I didn't need and have paid close to $1000 cuz my insurance didn't cover it, I am so glad I switched. The other thing he said was after the Deep cleaning I needed to be seen every 2-3 months 🤣, no thank you, I glad I trusted my gut.

It’s been my dream to be a general dentist and eventually own a practice. However, I fear that in the upcoming years, general practitioners will be paid less and less for all the reasons stated in this video and more. I did not have the intention to specialize, but I do find interest in some specialties. Do you now wish you had specialized with the current trajectory of general dentistry?

general is the best job in dentistry i think. specialty is great if you don’t want to work as hard and just make more per hour. but the variety of general dentistry makes it far more appealing to me than to do one thing all day for the next 20 years but yeah it is much harder to make it big as a general depending on where your located. no i dont regret it

@@DoctorRanaDDS It has to do more with my internal goals! I was in a job that stressed volume and talking people into getting the services you provide, and I hated every minute of it 😅So I can't imagine I'd be happy being a dentist.
