Smart man!!!! All these people are always saying the more aluminum the better but you are correct friend!!!!
@CarmineRC7 жыл бұрын
Right. Absolutely correct! High abuse parts SHOULD be flexible (plastic). Precision parts (steering) should be tight and strong. So, the answer to "plastic or aluminum", is YES!

I agree 100% on this subject. I'm in the process of upgrading a Losi DBXL, and everything will be aluminum EXCEPT for the suspension arms, they are the "sacraficial" week point which I don't mind breaking instead of doing serious damage to the bulkhead

As a guy working in the field of material science, I agree with every word you said! Great video:-)

Letian Li do you know if I should get aluminum hex hubs or plastic ones
@deezelfairy7 жыл бұрын
Personally I like the easiest to replace parts in steering and suspension to be plastic, you can then treat them like a 'sacrifical' part or a 'fuseable link' as I like to call them as you are using them as mechanical fuses!. On my yeti xl, aluminium bell crank and servo push rod for response but I prefer plastic tie rods to the hubs, in a front wheel impact they will either flex and if they do break £5 and 5 minutes and it's on the road again. Use an aluminium tie rod and you could be looking at ripping the bell crank/servo saver out the chassis. Day out over and a time consuming and expensive repair! As an engineer, and this applies to everything in the world of engineering, there is no one material better then another, no battery type better then another ect... it's all about APPLICATION!

Does anyone know if aluminum hex hubs are better than plastic ones?

For sure. No questions asked

I broke the fromt a arm onmy associated and the quickest i could get was aluminum. Same thing happened but this time took oit the bulkhead and chassis. Never again!

so im looking at the CNC version of the Axial scx10. im wondering if i should get the all metal chassis or just drop the 30 extra dollars and get the jeep with the plastic chassis. the only reason i would really be getting the metal chassis is because it looks amazing and looks to have a better transmission on it.
@TheLEDwheel6 жыл бұрын
For crawlers it's not quite the same. However if you tumble down a hill and bend something it's not coming back like plastic might. That being said, crawlers are abused differently since most of the time they are going slow.

On a crawler there isn't as much to worry about compared to racers and bashers.

I broke a front lower A Arm on my Redcat tr mt10e and I'm going to be upgrading to aluminium for ✌️ reasons: 1. Less wear on aluminium when driving over uneven surfaces as compared to plastic. 2. I am just curious as to how the truck would perform with the metal A arm's 😉.
@TheLEDwheel6 жыл бұрын
for the arms there is no flax therefor if something will break it will probably be where the arm mounts ti the chassis. So if it breaks then instead of replacing a table you will replace the gearbox or chassis mount.
@MrRazorblood6 жыл бұрын
theLEDwheel the lower chassis mounts are metal so I'll see how it goes.
@Animetion2935 жыл бұрын
Yeah? How'd that work out for you? I did the same thing and bought aluminum a arms. Luckily I had them on for only a day and without and accident that I did more research and found out it's a out the worst thing you could do for your chassis. When it comes to suspension, I think only that C hub benefits from being aluminum.

To me the real problem with plastic is the screw threads

To what RC exactly. Look in the description. There is a link there. Check and see if they have what you want.

Check your manual. If you dont have it you can download it. Its an HPI Blitz? If so hpiracing.com

The reason why i want aluminium is because of the colour just pops more than the plastic. Saying that i will not be doing so. This might be stupid to some people but i have done it and works perfect. Just strip the plastics you want aluminium and plastic spray paint them. Looks just as good. Only problem is they can scratch if you are on gravel, stone ect. For me its perfect as i only drive mine on grass so no scratches.

Chances of someone breaking the chassis is 99% not going to happen unless there doing ridiculous jumps.
