Nice to see a bi turbo being looked after properly. I've got mine in bits to do the metal water pipe going through the valley. Deep pockets much needed but so worth it :-)

We didn't have any service history on our black B5, so we addressed the timing belt as soon as we got it. The silver B5 we just picked up also luckily just had the service done. We also just picked up a W202 C43, and got slapped with a massive repair bill. After crying, we now know where to throw money. It's my silver lining lol.

Why not just do the Tbelt and pump yourself for under $300 bucks. You can get a kit from ECS and rent tools from Autozone if needed. You have a B5 better get to know your car.
@boostbook37476 жыл бұрын
RL H I definetly agree man. I do just about everything myself on this car. But at the time that the car needed this repair, I was in the middle of my college semester.. and being a Mechanical Engineering student.. I didn't have any time to do the job..
@jesusjessereyes66336 жыл бұрын

Am not a mechanic I do body work but I watched a video from ratchets and wrenches I followed step by step and I did it my self wasn't a s4 it's a 2.8 30v but it's basically the same had to buy some tools but it worked 🙏🏽

Bro I wanted a 2.7tt b5 S4 so bad this spring. I had 6 grand burning in my pocket. I just do my own wrenching and I heard about nightmares stories about that motor. I ended up buying a b5 passat 5 speed 1.8t, and put the extra cash in coil overs, k04 turbo upgrade, stage 3 tuning, s4 wheels/tires. I like the car, although now I am heavily interested in a n54 335i. We will see. Good luck with your Audi. All b5s are great. I’ll say a prayer for your 2.7, motor has to come out for turbos or manifolds.

Timing belts generally don't snap. A typical problem starts with the water pump. If it seizes, even momentarily, and the timing belt and or tensioner is old, the timing belt can jump a few teeth, throwing the camshaft out of time. Then your pistols contact the valves, the heads are chewed up, cylinder walls are scored, bits of metal are sucked into the turbo, and the motor needs a complete rebuild. I love Audis. Just bought a B7 A4 for my oldest son. Maintenance records were spotty, so before I even let him drive it, I changed the timing belt, water pump, serpentine belt, and hpfp cam follower, total cost was under 400 bucks. If you're not willing to pick up a wrench, the cost of ownership can be very high. Do your own maintenance, and they are not hugely expensive. If you're not experienced, you should pay a mechanic to do a pre buy inspection. Always assume a used car has deferred maintenance, especially when they're a couple of years or more out of warrantee.
@boostbook37477 жыл бұрын
Vandal thanks for the information. I do almost all of my own Maintenance and work on my S4. Unfortunately, being an Engineering Major, I didn't have enough time to do the whole timing belt service so I had to pay a mechanic to do the job. Thanks for watching!

"Destroyed by teenagers" yeah right. I'm 18 years old, I've had my B5 S4 for approximately a year and 2 months now and has had no problems whatsoever. Maintained like if should be and going stage 3 soon. Shouldn't really knock of teenagers when you don't really know what's up. Yes, there are those stupid, ignorant teenagers who don't know shit about cars and just wanna have a cool car to show off in but to single out all teenagers as one is quite shitty. Just my 2 cents, didn't mean to come off rude. Just saying it how i see it.
@boostbook37477 жыл бұрын
I decided to rewrite my comment.... I am not bagging on teenagers. At the time of this video I was 19 (still a teen but now just turned 20). It is a fact that the majority of teenagers who get their hands on a B5S4 run it to the ground with improper maintenance. I've experienced it first hand while shopping for months for the right S4. Perhaps I should have said "most teenagers". I hope I didn't hurt your feelings and I'm glad you take care of your S4... Feel free to check out my other S4 videos. Thanks
