My 2019 Corvette ZR1 0-60 times. | I AM NOT SURPRISED!!

**my apologies to the owners of the cars at the end. I rushed to get the video out and missed that import part of adding the names and description please forgive me in that. ***
The 0-60 times were not surprising to me. It was hot 96 degrees, Humid 73%, Cup 2 Tires, just a normal cement paved road not a drag strip. I did notice the PDR and cluster were off sometimes .2 and other times.1. The best time was 3.6 and thats not bad considering the best it does is 2.85 in perfect conditions. We will try it again in the fall and different tires and I am sure the times will come down some.

Hey chuck, don't worry about the times. You need a perfectly flat surface with extra smooth paved track conditions. And yes. temperature and humidity play also. I just have a lowly Stingray, but I always got better times without launch control once I got use to the car. In Portland Or the best I could do was 4.1. When we moved down to dry AZ last year I did 3.9 easy and even got a 3.8 once! Only difference was the environment. Keep'm coming Chuck. You're the man!

Hey Professor Chuck. Just wanted to give you a heads up on driving to K.C.. We drove through K.C. going to The Lake Of The Ozarks, and came up upon some very crazy drivers in the K.C. area. You can get ran over very easily on there intersate around the ole city. Just be extra careful, say some extra prayers, and drive very defensive. One interstate has on -ramps on both sides. Pretty crazy. Don't mean to scare you. Just go and have fun. You too, have a blessed rest of your week.

I've tried it a few times in the Z06. Launch control or not it was 3.8 on the PDR. Didn't get to do any launches at Spring Mountain but the wet figure eight was lot of fun.

Does that have a launch control? My z06 had it and I played with it but got my best 0-60 not using it and with t/c off. Temp makes a huge difference in hooking the tires!

It does have launch control like the Z but the few times I have used it traction control limits the car too much vs just slamming the gas and going. The Cup 2 tires and crapping surface along with H/M sucked at least .6 to .8 out of its ability. Will do this again in the fall with different tires.

I was just playing around with the 0-60 timer in my 2018 1LT coupe, the base model Stingray with 455hp (no performance exhaust option), with the A8 and 2.41 gears. The car is 100% stock, on stock tires, running 3/4 of a tank of 93 octane and it was 84 degrees outside, and I left it in D (in sport mode) and mashed the pedal to the floor (no launch control used) I did three runs in a row, first one was 4.2, second one was 4.0 and the third one was 3.9. My car's lack of power makes it a lot easier to launch than a ZR1 though, and no doubt the ZR1 would annihilate me in a quarter mile run!

You can see the car is having trouble with the 1st to 2nd gear shift points around 28 to 30 mph. That's where it stumbles. After that it takes off

Cooler temps you will probably pick up that 8/10 of a second. You can hear the tires not wanting to grab with the heat and humidity. Look forward to seeing what you lay down in the fall

What mode did you run in? I would try track mode because it shifts faster and race PTM for almost no TC

I tried it in track mode towards the end it got a little freed up but didn’t change the times. I think next time I will use the paddle shifters to get a little more out of 2nd gear.

You are going to need to spin a little to get your best times. If TC is kicking in every run its limiting your times. There are prob some kinks that need to be worked out of the trans if it is shifting slow by GM. Good luck Chuck!

I get at best 4.2 in my Z51, but average 4.7. It is all about the launch. With better straight line tires 4 seconds all day. Same with Z06, but 3 seconds all day. A set of Toyo R888R is what I plan to put on my Z06 rears.

Chuck, are you shifting with paddles? It looks to be short shifting going into 2nd gear? My best street is 3.1 with my C7 Z06 and numerous 3.4s. Just spin it up. keep posting awesome videos.

Great video! The times were pretty good given the conditions and you didn't seem to have heat in the tires. The Sport Cup 2s love their heat before they really dig in. Also, were you using launch control? I didn't see the revs come up too much before you let off the brake. That might have given you a couple more tenths. One last thing, you will love Spring Mountain and will learn a ton. I went with my Z06 last December. Everyone will be jealous of you driving a ZR1 there! Can't wait to see some of those videos, especially the instructor ride along in a ZR1.

I have used launch control on both the Z06 and now the ZR1 and the times are slower because traction control really limits the take off to me anyways vs if you just slam it and go.

I did not for this video but i have done it off camera much slower times. In the Z06 and the ZR1 the launch control just doesn’t do very well because of traction control. GM needs to work on that.

Chuck what mode are you in? You should be in sport when testing this on the street. I should take a video of my 2018 stock manual GS. I achieved a 3.6 on the street in it. my Buddy got a 3.4 in his Z with the same tactics.

It was in sport but the cup 2 tires are totally different than the SS tires on your cars. I don’t k ow if it was hot and humid when you did it but that definitely killed the times as well plus I didn’t have the best of surfaces and was a little bumpy. See what happens in the fall with different tires and cooler temps. I am sure it’s going to be .6 to .8 better

Had to go back and look at when you were doing launch control with the Z06 at this same location, I think you got more constant times with the Z06 but looks like you managed a .2-.3 quicker time in the ZR-1, did your engine temp go up a lot ? as always good job and thumbs up !

The Cup 2 tires are time killers and the heat and humidity was much worse than with the Z06. Temp got up to 240 doing 5 digs that’s how muggy it was. It was like running with a paper bag over your head 😂😂.

Launch control works better in my ZO6- but I think it was better in your old ZO6👍. The power wasn’t getting to the ground in the first 2 gears. Just curious? Were you using LAUNCH CONTROL correctly?

The ZR1 is silly as it does not offer an upgrade over the Z06 for the money, Road & Driver tested it and stated that for 31K you only get a 1 foot braking upgrade from a metrics perspective. Wait for the C8.

You are buying it’s rarity. Like the GT RS vs a GT, GT ve GTR a 570 vs a 600LT. There are Z06 everywhere but the ZR1 is a very limited car. If your a corvette enthusiast you would understand but a normal car guy never will. That’s why you buy it.
