I think Lavine can be a productive player as can russell( who led a playoff team ). Both can be legit number two or three opinions . I don’t think either is a top option guy though I agree with that. Keep up the great videos bro love to have you back !
@RennWickam4 жыл бұрын
I feel like the issue with Russell over Lavine is that he needs to be running the show through the pick n roll to be productive. When he was asked to play with Steph in the Warriors motion system, he was looking pretty out of place and that only changed when he was left to run the show. If he's going to work in any system, it'll be like the one he has in Minnesota where he and KAT can run Pick and Rolls to death (god I wanted the Ben Simmons for D-Lo rumors to be true, having those two slow the game down so they can dominate in the P&R and space for Joel would've been amazing
@jastew88144 жыл бұрын
Noah McClay like Demar
@akaspon14 жыл бұрын
@@RennWickam Well, to be fair, that system was created for Steph and Klay to be the most effective. Especially since they never had a great shooting or scoring center and because Kerr doesn't like PnR basketball. But guess what, Steph's MVP years were coming with him and Draymond running PnR all the time. You had to pay so much attention to what Steph was doing and because he was dangerous from anywhere on the floor, and Draymond's passing ability made it work. But you expected D-Lo within weeks to just work in their system???? Also, the best PnR guards are because they can be threats and read defenses, which is a very very rare guard skill these days, so playing to that strength with D'Angelo is not a bad idea. To me his biggest problem is defense and shot selection occasionally, but both can change with TIME. He is still young. It's not fair to say he is overrated before he reaches anything close to final form imo.
@RennWickam4 жыл бұрын
@@akaspon1 the difference between Steph and Draymond's PnR compared to basically every other team in the league is the way that they use Draymond's playmaking ability. They set the screen ungodly high because of Steph's gravity, then have Draymond be the one who does the bulk of the playmaking from the short roll to the freethrow line while off-ball screens cause havoc off ball from their superb shooting. It's not like the traditional pick and roll that D-Lo excells in, with a pick a little below or at the 3 point line so he can punish in the mid range area, hit the roll man for a quick lob (like he did with Jarrett Allen) or find off ball cutters (like Rodions Kurucs, who was superb moving off-ball last year and took a big step back this year without him). His offense only truly excels when he is pulling the strings and creating space off of screens(nearly 60% of his shots are off pull ups) and when he isn't doing that he's left to be almost soley a catch and shoot player that can't defend or finish off the ball because of a lack of athleticism. Taking him off the ball completely removes his strengths and shows off his weaknesses, but I don't feel like a team that wants to make it past the 1st or 2nd round would like him to be that dominant first option (Unless he's paired with a great bigman like he is now in Minnesota so he can create for the both of them)

Terrible List..... D Lo's first two years he was immature and learning how to play, people were actually underrating him then. Then he was injured for a year in Brooklyn and then led them team to the playoffs when nobody had any expectations. And This year he was very solid, but was playing with a bunch of G Leaguers, what do you expect? Lavine: This one I understand a bit more. He's very good offensively but his defense is atrocious and he's never been able to win games. Kuzma: Who overrates Kuzma? Maybe a couple years ago, but I think the consensus on Kuzma is that he's just kind of meh. Aaron Gordon: Again, who praises Aaron Gordon? He's solid, but besides his dunking I never anyone mention how good he is as a player. Deandre Jordan: Was a fantastic Defender in his prime, and an integral piece to those Clippers teams. But everyone knows where he stands now, he's a role player. Who is overrating him?

What more can you want from a guy that literally is the only reason the bulls aren’t projected to get the #1 pick. "literally is the only reason the bulls aren’t projected to get the #1 pick" i hate this argument. like when people argued for kobe and westbrook to get mvp in years they lead their team to a mediocre record just because of how bad the team would be without them. well, yea...if you take the best player away, most teams are gonna get considerable worse. and the bulls are like 3 games ahead of the last place team as opposed to being dead last. not much of an accomplishment for a guy everyone is saying should be an all-star. it's not his fault, but don't act like he really elevated them to another level

My five players: PG- Trae Young. Young is extremely fun to watch and is one of the best scorers in the league, but when people say he's a top five point guard, it is clear that he's overrated. He is one of, if not the, worst defenders in the NBA and his offensive talents have not led to any success in his young career. He still has time to improve upon his defense, develop into a leader, and become a legitimate contender for the best point guard in the league, but, as of 2020, he is not there yet. SG- Zach LaVine. LaVine was explained nicely in the video; a subpar defender who can score but has not contributed to any success. I do have hope for him to become a solid wing defender and improve in the other areas he lacks in, mainly playmaking, but currently, he is still overrated. SF- Jayson Tatum. This one is a bit controversial, as Tatum is one of the best rising stars in the league, but I think he has been given a reputation that exceeds his skill due to his streak of extraordinary games up until the break. During that streak of games he was playing like a top player in the league, but he has not yet been able to do that for a full season. I know he was having a great season before that stretch, as he made the all-star team, but it has been made out to be better than it actually was. I think Tatum is around the 15th best player in the league right now, and I am almost certain he will one day reach the top 5, but his current reputation has exceeded him which is why I consider him overrated. PF- Kyle Kuzma. Kuzma was summed up perfectly in the video, but, unlike the other players I have included, I am not as hopeful about his future, as his production has decreased rather than increased. I know he is playing with better players now, which explains the drop in his points, but his shooting percentages have also slightly decreased which is something you would expect to skyrocket when playing with one of the best playmakers in NBA history. C- Rudy Gobert. Although Gobert is one of the best rim protectors and defenders in the game, his offensive is very underwhelming. His defense is superb, but it has led to his reputation exceeding him, as he is look upon more fondly than players who have a better all-around game such as Bam Adebayo. When a player who struggles on offense as much as Gobert is considered a top 5 center in the league, he is undoubtedly overrated.

My list: PG: Coby White - People Acting like this guy is a God because he's had a few good games at the end of the season. Are people forgetting how horrible he was for the first 4 months? Not saying he's going to be bad, but I think he'll be mediocre at best. SG: Devin Booker - Booker is talented no doubt, but he has yet to prove he can win at all. You can say some guys are victims of being in the stacked West or having bad teammates, but DBook has never had more than 24 WINS before this season. It's not like he was simply missing the playoffs, he was literally DEAD LAST almost every year he's been in the league. It's not like he's had no help either. This year he had Rubio, Oubre (who was very good), Ayton, Baynes, Saric, etc. Not saying these are elite players, but if D Book was that good he'd be able to at least drag the team above 13th in the West lol. SF: Jayson Tatum - Look, this is an OVERRATED players list. That means some of the players I'm going to name are going to be players who are thought of in a very high regard, thats how being overrated works. I'm not going to name guys like Kuzma or Aaron Gordon who nobody gives two thoughts about. Tatum is a very good player. He's really good defensively, plays well within the Celtic's system, and has a skillset that is bound to succeed in the league. He's also been very impressive in the last stretch before the end of the season, putting up monstrous numbers. That being said, I'm hearing some people putting him on Lukas level or acting like he's the next big superstar of the league, and I'm not just seeing it. Last season he was a major disappointment. And he was super inconsistent for the majority of this season until the end. He had a game early on where he'd go 1-18, then another where he'd be 2-16. Also let's not forget how much help he has. Kemba, Hayward, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart..... these are are FANTASTIC PLAYERS. Plus he's being coached by Brad Stevens, one of the best in the league. The Celtics were already very good before he got there, its not like he came and all of a sudden they Started massively improving (like The Mavs with Luka). Stop putting him in the Superstar tier, for right now, he's just very good. Let's see if he can sustain that success for a full season. PF: Marcus Morris - This is not a super hot take, but I couldn't think of anyone else for the PF. Morris is ok, but he takes the ball in Iso way too much for a guy of his caliber. I do not think he's a great team player and I don't think he'll be a huge factor for the Clippers in the Playoffs. C: Nikola Vucevic - I'll give it to Vuc, he played great in a contract season last year. That being said, I really don't think he's all that good of a player. While he can stretch the floor and has some solid mobility for a big man, his style of play has never really translated to winning basketball. I think he's just ok, and puts up a lot of empty calorie stats. Definitely Not worthy of the 36th best player in the league, or whatever Bleacher Report ranked him as last week, that is OUTRAGEOUS!
@Absynthe234 жыл бұрын
Lavine is underrated if anything. 38% 3pt shooter on 8 attempts per game. Perfect for this 3 ball era. But yeah, it's a trend for bball purists to be hating on super scorers with defensive deficiencies. If Curry hasnt won a title, he'd fit right into that category. If anything, it's supposedly great defensive players that are liabilities on offense that we tend to overrate, Draymond Green, patrick Beverly anyone? And then we try to defend them by "scoring isnt everything" argument. Well, guess what. Defense isnt everything too. Nobody's ever picking Tony Allen over James Harden.

Kyrie doeznt brings winning basketball and is more all about him. But u still think he is a top 3 point guard every year.... So why does this count for lavine and russel but not for kyrie??
@tyronebiggumsthethird38074 жыл бұрын
I'm not a Kyrie fan at all, but I think he's definitely a top ten point guard and also you can't say someone doesn't win when they got a ring as the second best option and hit the most clutch shot in NBA history (coming from a Warrior's fan)
@Nick-sr4fe4 жыл бұрын
Antonio A I get what you mean but he himself hasn’t done anything besides that one ring. He has been on a good Celtics team and hasn’t done anything since. He had better teams than Zach and DLo
@erictynes2654 жыл бұрын
Nick this is overall just an unfair take due to his injuries, and the fact that when he wasn’t injured without Lebron he wasn’t close to his prime, and was like 22 yrs old. His first year on the Celtics, at the start of the year they were a 1st seed and he was the best player on the team, so how come he gets no respect for that🤔

Trae Young Devin Booker Brandon Ingram Draymond Green John Collins I tried to pick players that you didn't but couldn't really do all the positions. I'd put Kyrie, Embiid, and maybe Lonzo on the list too. Depends on what your expectations were.

No offense you have to watch more Zach LaVine games. Please watch the tape he makes meaningful plays but because Coby White been the only good player and the team is really a mess he’ll be considered that. He can score and make plays for teammates defensively can be suspect but I also attribute to offensive load because he’s had games where his held his own. I think you need to re- evaluate that situation

Honestly, i would go as far as to say Deandre Jordan has become underrated, considering everyone was seeing his acquisition by the Nets as just a throw in so they can get Kyrie and KD together more easily. Sure, he is far from his perennial DPOY candidate years, but he is actually a lot better than people give him credit for. His free throw shooting has improved by a RIDICULOUS amount (69% for the past 2 years), and he has actually improved as a passer, or at the very least he's being used in that role more, and he's managing alright. He is still one of the best rebounders in the game, and although offensively his impact is nonexistent, at the very least, he doesn't do dumb stuff, so that's always a positive. He is very much in Dwight Howard/Daniel Theis spot as a player, where he can be your starter and give you 25 solid minutes per game, if you just need a guy to do basic big man things.

How is D’Lo overrated? Nobody think he is an All-NBA team player or a superstar in the league. He made the All-star team, deservedly so, and this year he is around a top 11-12 point guard, which most people aknowledge. I’m not a D’Lo fan but i always felt like he was well properly rated, didn’t expect that.

I remember going into this season, someone tried to convince me that Kuzma was as good as, if not better than Tatum. Watching those Luke Walton Lakers teams, I thought he was a great draft choice, and played pretty well his first season. Always thought relatively highly of him, I mean, he wasn't a star, but he was a solid young player. But, once LeBron joins the Lakers there is a mandated "Big 3" narrative, and Kuzma gets thrust into the spotlight as being the potential third guy. We even had segments with Shaq telling him to step up big for the team, and regular talk about him on debate shows. It gives me the impression people who think he's *that* good, probably weren't watching the Lakers prior to last season. He's decent, but his impact doesn't really merit discussion.

To be fair to Gordon, once Isaac got injured he got much better, showing good passing skills whilst being good defensively too. The fit with Isaac is just questionable imo since they’re both better being utilised at the 4

intravenousradio he barely got to play with Steph and Klay but yea I always felt like he was a bad fit. He would’ve been the third option on that team.
@Watermelon_Man4 жыл бұрын
@@intravenousradio He BARELY got to play with Steph and never got to play with Klay. I completely disagree with both parts of your comment. D'Lo wouldn't fit as a secondary BALL HANDLER, but he could easily be a secondary scoring option because he's very willing to go for assists. And he wouldn't have fit with GS because the whole time he was there, they played a completely different style of basketball than they usually play so it simply would have been bad for him if they got him used to staying on the ball and then relegated him to more off ball play once the team was healthy. Nothing to do with his capability and more to do with trying to restructure a whole system that a player is already accustomed to.

I don’t think anyone actually overrates Deandre Jordan. Everyone just acknowledges that he’s a bit shit now. He’s good friends with the Nets big two so he’s gonna get games but the public don’t really think of him as very good. 95% of the people I know think Allen is miles better today.
@isaacpimentel64824 жыл бұрын
Lakers fan here, can confirm Kuz has been overrated. Our fault honestly, LA fans overhype everything and he had a good couple years being an 18ppg type dude pre AD but he hasn’t been able to stay consistent when we need him to actually have him potentially be the third guy.

Lavine is a tough player to have. Plays zero defense, ain’t good enough to be the first option or 2nd option, he doesn’t really fit the 3rd option role since he needs the ball in his hands. The only way he can be the 2nd option is if he becomes a better facilitator.
@claymathews88144 жыл бұрын
I think Lavine might be better than Russell. He’s more efficient, better in the paint, shoots more free throws, and is improving his defense. God i hope theres a new coach next season
