Just to clear up, when i say Chelsea "haven't done much" defensively, I mean in terms of transfers. It appears they may bring Kounde in but that wasn't necessarily the case at the time of recording and I can't do predictions based on potential transfers. For me, clubs will expect Tuchel's 5 at the back system now, which is making them look defensively better than they are when in reality he doesn't trust any combination of 2 CBs currently at the club. I of course could be wrong, but I maintain that they won't win the league with the current centre backs they have and Thiago Silva is another year older. Also, I do say Lukaku could make them title contenders in the video. Cheers.

I don’t question Chelsea’s defensive solidarity I question their league form Cup football is progressive a 38 game season can be taxing especially with their style of football not being very expansive 4th is the highest they go for me😂

@@thabopitsoo We created some of the highest chances last season, only reason we didn’t finish higher was because players Werner werent taking their chances, our defensive record was the best under tuchel. Now that Lukaku is here, all chelsea fans can agree is final puzzle. We watched chelsea last year every game and we know the reason we struggled soo much in the league was because we created many chances and our strikers didn’t finish them off. Even Lampard mentioned every week which evidently sacked him.

There’s a difference between the defenders being good and a system which is defensively good. He means the individuals in defence aren’t good enough. To win the league I don’t believe you can have a system hide the weaknesses of the individuals. To win more games they will need to adjust their system imo which will make their defence worse without the right individuals. Look at their form end of the season, it was poor (bar ucl which was obvs great).

Chelsea not a title winning defense? They allowed the second least goals in the league last season. They’re the opposite. They are not a title winning offense and with Lukaku, that can change. As a Liverpool fan, I would at the very least swap Chelsea with Man U and maybe put them above my own team. Also, Leeds United scored more goals than Chelsea last season (and Aston Villa only scored 3 less goals than Chelsea) so it should be quite obvious where they need to improve

3rd best defensive side is really misleading when you talk about Arsenal, and how they keep throwing games randomly with a 1-0 or 1-1 scoreline against bottom top 10 teams. This defense is prone to make mistakes with people like xhaka, bellerin providing a huge amount of liability in front of goal. Not to mention, the attack and midfield is being hard carried by 2 teenagers with senior players massively underperform all seasons.

I'm not convinced Jordan Henderson can play a full season in midfield at this point and the likes of Thiago and Keita haven't shown they can do it for Liverpool yet. Along with Wijnaldum's departure I think the only proven and reliable premier league midfielder they have at the moment is Fabinho. I put them a bit lower because of this. 4th place for me but not title challengers in my opinion. Always look forward to this video each year Spen and even use your scoring system for my own predictions.

In my opinion I don't think he can put in 30-35 prem games this season but we'll see.

I'm a Liverpool supporter, so the idea of a 2nd place finish sounds great, but on paper I don't think they can do better than 4th with the way things currently stand (although I would love to be wrong, obviously). I believe the work of a title-winning team is never over, so even if you're confident in your squad, you still have to do some business and bring in at least 1 major signing that can challenge for a spot in the starting 11. I also do believe that Ibou Konate could fit that description, however, the business of bringing in cover at centre back is something that Liverpool needed to do LAST season. I'm glad it got done, but there needs to be something more before I feel confident in a finish above 4th. Especially because Citeh, Chelsea, and United have all made at least one MAJOR signing.
