yes.....I am fully aware of the irony at 4:17 where I apparently missed a clip and didn't color grade it 😂 Cut me some slack, I finished this edit at 5am!

Glad to hear you got the Quasi FCM course. I took advantage of his 40% off special for black Friday, I'm a few modules in and so far it's pretty great!

Worth every penny! I don’t recommend many courses since most can be junk but his is one I 100% recommend people check out.

I hope I am in the right spot here. I'm editing mostly Videos for KZbin and overall Social Media, but as time develops I find myself starting to make higher level videos and starting commercials. Up until now I used FCPX, and it is perfect for easy videos and fast edits, but I find myself hating the magnetic timeline from time to time and want to switch to DaVinci. I now want to go all in and force myself to use it at the beginning because I don't want to see me go back to FCPX every time... As I want to start grading the videos better than previously (I do not have much experience and knowledge in colograding). As I like the editors keyboard really because of the jog wheel it has I am thinking of getting one of these two combinations 1: Blackmagic Editors Keyboard and Blackmagic Mini Panel or 2: Blackmagic Speed Editor and Blackmagic Micro Panel or I mix things up as Michael has it, and get myself the Mini Panel and the Speed Editor and place the Keyboard under the Mini Panel. Note here, I have special shortcuts currently that I use for FCPX that I prbly would copy to DaVinci (Q - trim back, W - cut, E - trim forward, etc.) Also I don't want to get started without one of all of these as I see myself buying one of the things in the future and it would be a waste of money to get only the license now and then buy a hardware where the license is in it... The thing I can't decide: do I need the Mini Panel or is the Micro enough? Do I need the Editors Keyboard or do I just use a normal smallformat keyboard and the speed editor? I would really appreciate if someone could share their thoughts or experiences!!!! Thanks!

Are you using a Decklink card for the clean feed into a breakout box for the clean feed?

Audio Pro Suggestion: Replace those speakers with the new Adam Audio A7V and put them on stands behind your desk. For a solid stand that is height adjustable, get the K&M 26720. For an audio interface the suggestion is a Focusrite Scarlett or Clarett+.

Great video!! how do you get the clean feed from the mac, do you use any ultrastudio from blackmagic?
@mohammadhamzaalam3 жыл бұрын
how did u connect the ultrafine to get clean feed? Is it through ultrastudio or is it directly hooked up to the mac pro? Does Davinci lets you do clean feed on macs now? Lovely setup by the way! Simple yet absolutely effective! :D

i have my sw271 plugged in to my TS3+ dongle on the mac and DVR allows me to clean feed to it. Although I m not sure that this is the "cleanest" way to do it.

Fluance speakers are awesome for music. I keep them in my chill room, Yamaha reference monitors on my desk though :) Anyway, that’s a great setup!! I just got an ikea desk… it’s 31.5x63. Not something you can share a turkey dinner on like your desk haha. I haven’t decided on the micro or the mini panel yet, I think I’ll know once I get my new desk built and put my video monitor on it :)

Hey! Super clean looking suite, I’m just wondering why you are using a LG ultrafine for your mastering display? P3 is more of a projection color space, can a ultrafine hit rec709 properly? I don’t know if I were doing a commercial for broadcast I would be kinda scared judging it on a ultrafine.
@initialfocus2 жыл бұрын
I’ll be 100%. I don’t know haha. For me it was the best monitor I could afford. My backlight on my LG 31MU97-B has been fading so it’s quite dark and colors have been thrown off. I wanted something above 4K and HDR capable so it was the best option at the time so I use it as my clean feed. I never work in broadcast though and when I export I check multiple devices for color consistency.
@CinemaSteve2 жыл бұрын
@@initialfocus that’s where something like a color calibrator comes in. I had the same issues with my LG so I bought a calibrite and it solved my issues. Made my rec 709 footage look good and accurate and it exported well to phones.
@luisotero53542 жыл бұрын
P3 is WAY bigger gamut than Rec.709. So, grading on a P3, and monitoring on a Rec.709 is extremely useful.
@AldyWaani2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s what i thought. None of these type of ‘setup’ really bother about color precision / workflow. I would invest AJA Kona 4 and EZIO monitor at least and go for SDI environment instead of buying those fancy keyboard and controllers. Such a waste to have 10-bit footage
