Great video. Like Jimmy J said always nice to hear about the products out there. Would say that looking at the puffy jackets and what both sitka and Kuiu wanted for them left me with some sticker shock. So I bought a Decathlon Trek 100. Its only like 80 bucks and its dang warm and it leaves a whole lot of cash still in my wallet. Keep up the good work

I am glad they came out with the "regular" inseam. I passed on the Attack pants until they came out with that. I love them.

I have the new Chugach TR Jacket/Pant, hooded peloton fleece 97, strong fleece hybrid 210 zipt, attack pants, kenai beanie, axis gloves, ultra merino 145 balaclava, kuiu air mesh flex fit hat. All in Valo and love every piece. 6'3" 210 and XL fits perfectly layered or by itself. Plan on adding the Kenai jacket/pant, Guide DCS hooded jacket and pant, strong fleece 260, 97 fleece zip off pant. All in Valo. Highly recommend if it can wait to purchase all kuiu gear when it has a 15-40% sale on it. Most stuff does throughout the year. As for the Down layers, I'm hesitant on buying it as I can find stuff similar for half the price and same performance. I've tried alot of gear and Kuiu imo is hard to beat at its price point and if you buy it at 25% off even better.

Yes this was good I enjoyed back in March or would it be in 2020 when you did the initial switch to Kuiu I still think the axis set together would be the best. That’s what I just orderedThanks again great video

I somehow lost a good LL Bean Gore-Tex parka on tn elk hunting trip so I'll likely get the KATANA rain parka. My other layering is stuff is already "dialed in" after years of hunting and being both a Nordic (XC ski) and alpine ski patroller for 12 years. Part of that layering gear is a KUIU merino hoodie. But usually I use that hoodie for sleeping in cooler weather. The hood really helps to get good night's sleep.

The axis pants and jacket are on my list to get. One thing I noticed between the guide and axis jacket/pants: axis is wind proof and has waterproof panels as well as being water resistant.

Nice video... I love the Kuiu gear. However, for those of us a little older and larger I really wish Kuiu made larger sizes. The Jackets/shirts fit, but pants are out of the question with the largest size going up to 42. Would really love for them to start making larger clothing. We do hunt outside of the truck/ATV/SxS.

How loud are the axis pants? I have a pair of the talus and feel they are too loud for slow hunting the timber. Attack pants are quiet enough but not warm enough for late season hunts.

Thanks for the video. Good stuff. How would you compare the 260 Strongfleece to the Peloton 240 full zip hoody? Been waiting on the 240 to come back in stock but am intrigued by your review of the 260.
@PNWild
@PNWild 2 жыл бұрын
Personally I’d choose the 260 strongfleece over the 240 peloton every single Time. The 260 is a better piece for layering Underneath jackets and puffys etc. Nothing really against the 240 but I just found it not continuously not making my kit. As for the 260 it IS a staple to my layering system. Hope that helps a little.

Great video, with so many companies out now its hard to know where to spend your money. It would be interesting to see a comparison between a handful of brands for similar jackets or pants, their prices, and durability. Kuiu vs Sitka vs kings vs kryptek vs ?

@sav300
@sav300 2 жыл бұрын
Jimmy I would highly recommend you invest in a pair of each comparable product from the big three if your in debate on the brands. Kuiu, Sitka, and First Lite. They are all amazing! The only thing that separates them for myself is the fit and feel. I have owned about every brand under the sun and will say that Kuiu and Sitka are by far the best out there, in my opinion. Absolutely amazing clothing. Tough, warm, dry, cool, they breathe, weight, and overall quality. I have a pair of attack pants from Kuiu that are 6yrs old and I’ll continue to wear them for another 5!! I’ll just put it straight forward…there is no comparison to kryptek, kings, underarmour, mossyoak, and Cabela’s. I have them all, it’s what I started with. I will never purchase them again after owning Kuiu and Sitka if I want my moneys worth. But I will also say they aren’t terrible. They fit my budget at the time and I could buy more clothing per dollar. Period. But I wore them out in a year or two if hunting. Hope this helps ya!
@kee7678
@kee7678 2 жыл бұрын
@@sav300 I agree 100% with all of that. I've gone now more towards Kuiu, for lighter gear and the latest fabric technology...and I've found...to be less $ overall as well. There are a few Sitka items that I prefer however, but overall i'm 90% new going with Kuiu.

Jeff, Since you have had both, can you tell me any difference in fit between the Guide jacket and Axis jacket. I tried the Axis and it seemed a bit athletic fit and not as easy to layer under as my Jetstream from Sitka. Is the guide jacket like the axis or a bit roomier standard fit like the Jetstream? TY

Hello, About the Guide DCS vs Axis I looked at them as well pretty hard and ended with the Axis only because it have waterproof panels in some areas. The weight difference I think is mostly the collar design and extra pockets on the Guide DCS not sure if that would equal more insulation/warmer. But sometimes I regret not giving the Guide DCS a try. I like the design with extra pocket just was not sure how much windproof it would had been. Can you do a test blow air through the fabric and see how easy it pass if any. Placing the lips on the fabric creating a seal and blow. That supposed to simulate a 20mph wind. On the Axis is super hard to pass air with that test. Thanks.

I live and hunt in the high desert of New Mexico and for the most part we have a mild fall and winter. Average day time highs of around 45-50. The mornings can be cold low twenties, but by 8am it’s usually above freezing. So I wear a thin thermals under my pants, merino 145 Ls top and a guide vest. I’m looking for a lite weight mid layer / “jacket” to use, and take the vest on / off as needed. I don’t like hoods, so I wear a beanie and maybe a neck gator. I’m torn between the Strong Fleece 210 and Peloton 240 for that minimalist outer layer. Something lite that can cut the wind and is decently tough. I will getting the Axis set for late Nov - Feb hunts, old really cold days. What’s the opinion on Valo vs Verde for PJ Pine desert southwest terrain?

Waay too much “blither-blather” in you video. Saying I like something without examples of WHY you like a product is a huge waste of time. “I like this, I really like this, I really like this” is totally wasting viewers time many of whom need real facts like WHY you like or dislike a product!
