I've had mine for about 6 months now. It shares the garage with a 2023 BMW M4 manual and a 2018 Lexus LC500. They all put smiles on my face, but there is something giggle-inducing about the Kona that can't be matched. Tip with the suspension - Do a custom N mode with everything on the sportiest setting but the suspension on comfort. I have N1 mode set that way, and N2 set on all comfort except the exhaust, and the throttle being on mid. Makes for several distinct driving flavors.

i have a 2022 kona N. 15k miles and runs like day one. I get a lot of compliments. I've raced cars thinking they could easily beat me, then when we stop to talk they want to know what the hell that thing is! hahah

Don't let this come off wrong. Your visuals are AMAZING. Your voice overs need a better mic, like when you were sitting in the drivers seat in the beginning. Just some constructive feedback. Other than that, I love your video work, colors look mixed well too.

I have a '23 KN in Abyss Black. I agree about the car looking fantastic in red, but I feel it attracts less attention in black. As such, a good sleeper car, just another black SUV to most people. Less attention is good when I feel the need to engage in 'spirited' driving, on occasion. Excellent review! I never get tired of watching N car videos.

You're quoting Hyundai marketing, and then you say "what I *do* like about this car at 10:33, as if you don't like the car. "and the markups" Hyundai dealerships charge a markup just like anyone else. Get out with that, Hyundai doesn't BAN dealers from adding an ADM, that's just some sass. A Hyundai dealer can add just as much ADM (markup) as a Honda dealer, good luck getting any car at MSRP if it's popular and you live in a competitive market. If you're the only person who buys a Hyundai Kona N in your city maybe you'll get it at MSRP and you'll know why. The only reason you can get a Kona N cheaper than a Civic Type R is that it isn't as good, and I say that as a Kona N owner. @@Enigmafotos

Not enough exterior design differences to differentiate this from non N versions. I have yet to see a single Kona N on the road in Toronto. That all said I am impressed by what the N versions are trying to achieve performance wise.

Side by side they look different enough but would be cool if they were at a different level of cool. Yeah Albert had an amazing run at Hyundai. Getting him from BMW’s M division was such a big win for them. Oh and hello neighbor from the north 👋!

@@Enigmafotos I wish they had ditched the three nostrils and put two hood scoops on it instead. WOuld have set it apart well enough from the N-Line. That being said, I enjoy my sonic blue Kona N immensely.

Nice review. I had a 2020 Veloster N for awhile, but the rough ride on it got to be too much. Its performance was insane, though. And it caught the attention of state troopers too much as well. I since got a 2016 Nissan Juke Nismo RS, which I suppose is kinda the distant uncle of the Kona N (a small crossover SUV with an awful lot going on under the hood). The Kona N did intrigue me, but the used Nissan was 20k cheaper and has been quite fun.

No new Kona N EV, which is what I wanted. The new Kona's are also larger, which I don't like. For what's announced, I'm currently interested in the id.2all GTI(maybe R will come) or the Volvo EX30 AWD.

I'm selling my 2020 Camaro SS 1LE due to the ride after 3 1/2 years of daily driving. While I like to do a HPDE track day once a year or so, the trade off isn't worth it for my 51 year old self. I always found that great handling light weight cars are so rough. Other than back in the 90s'. The original Sentra SE-R/ 89-91 Civic Si/NX2000/etc. These Kona N's look so cool and offer a lot of performance, if you can take the ride. Great review.

That’s a sweet Camaro! My wife’s first car was a Camaro. Really sad to see them go. At 49 I feel you. I drove my friends Elantra N and in the soft mode it is a lot more comfortable and forgiving. I would still take the Kona on a smooth ride or track though. It just handles so well. Bringing up those cars you are making me miss my little Honda Del Sol Si 🤣. Thank you for the kind words!

Excellent review and pretty fair overall. I agree on most points really. - The interior being all black pretty much, I think just a bit more color would have bee nice, or maybe some piano black elements in the dash area. Besides that I like it, because it's clean, simple, utilitarian you could say. Everything you actually touch feels decent to me. - I do like that I have a sun roof in my Euro one, because it adds light to the interior which is a plus. - The ride is also true, full N mode can "Fuck your spine, fuck your pelvis, fuck your neck. Fuck you in general." unless the roads are perfect. N Custom with everything on full kill except suspension is totally livable fortunately. I might be doing what other people are, in terms of downsize rims and upsizing tire wall. But Germany can be a bitch when it comes to legal tire and rim sizes. So...we'll see. - As for red being the best color? Welllllllll. I drove a red car for 15 years, so I am not quite arguing too much here. I ended up with Sonic Blue, which I quite like because I like blue cars and white cars, so that was a fun choice, plus having a color exclusive to the N is a nice bonus. I am happy there. Love the opening shots, great cinematography.

@@Enigmafotos Nah, you're not too negative. It's just true. I kinda wonder if they couldn't do a software update to dial everything slightly back, have eco mode basically comfort, normal as it it, sport more like a harder comfort and n mode like sport is. I think that'd be perfect. Normal it completely fine though, it is a sporty car afterall and since people are still lowering it anyway, it honestly can't be that bad overall anyway. I can see about the sun roof, I mean it's honestly pretty weird to me that they didn't just offer everything in all markets because it's offered in so many places already. So shipping sun roof bodies to the US would be possible without a problem. Or offering the US spec wheels as an option in Europe (or the forged EU wheels in the US). Or even just the color options, like the Satin Champagne the Australians got? Just an odd mix of options or lack thereof. Are you planning on any changed? I honestly think the red Kona would go very well with gold wheels. Quite flashy, but I think on red...well you wouldn't mind flashy anyway. Or red car with white wheels goes hard too. You could check out Fifteen52 they have some cool style wheels/rims, I wanted some of their wheels, but with the offset, I can't legally drive them in Germany.

I think I remember Albert saying that fans loved the stiffness in the ride in the Veloster and he didn’t want to disappoint them with the Kona. A mad man he is and truly a visionary. Even though I do like your idea. I’ve gotten so used to it now I barely notice it anymore unless I hit some bad roads haha. Man white wheels would look rather sexy haha.

My Kona N is stiff but not terrible. The base Kona with a torsion beam rear is unimpressive, but the AWD options adds in an independent rear suspension and it rides rather well.

​@@diydrivenGA I have one in the UK where there is only 1 spec and apart from a sunroof, it just about has everything as far as I'm aware. HUD, heated seats front and rear, cooled front seats, electric front seats both driver and passenger, heated steering wheel, 19" forged wheels.........
