What I really like about your board is that your actual guitar tone isn’t buried by a ton of effects. Your drives sound great! I may have to copy your board as I make mine. I sold off all my pedals to start over.

How you upgrade will greatly depend on where you want to be. In the mid 60s a big change was made in re-released albums. Many records were reprocessed so they could say "NOW IN STEREO". Stereo was then discovered in this way by the listening public. People really really loved stereo and it has stuck since then. LPs, then casettes, followed by CDs continued to be in stereo and everything since has been stereo. When you rush out to buy that new pedal make sure it's "NOW IN Stereo". Electro-Harmonix has the "Platform" check it out.

Great presentation. I have the Quad Cortex, but find it is not really doing it for me so I just got a PedalTrain medium board that I am putting together today. I will use my QC like you use the Tonex. I have the Cloudburst, the Keeley Halo, and the AT Super Phat (Andy Timmons new pedal from Keeley). I also have a Keeley Compressor pedal. I am essentially aiming to have my QC in kind of a set it and forget it and then have the other effects for the tangible tweaking of knobs. Kind of the best of both worlds there. I think I still need to get a tuner because I don't like the built in tuner on the QC. Probably add a few more things as I go along. I think the medium Pedaltrain is a good size but I was struck with how huge the metal case looks! I play at church most every week. I am not the worship leader, but mostly do fills and help carry the songs. You run your Timeline into the Cloudburst. In my case I would be running my Halo into the Cloudburst. I will probably reference your video a few times today! God bless you and all you love!

I like how simple your board is, yet sounds big. I am currently building a smaller board, only with my needs, and not my wants. My current dilemma is whether I should give up on the Timeline and just go for the DIG. 90% of the time I use digital delay, so I guess it makes sense.

Hi, I am courious about a topic, would be glad if you or anyone could give opinion about it. You run now Reverb and delay after the ToneX and the reason is because you want them stereo and you could not put it before. Is this sound ok for you ?Is it not a compromise ? If you would have a chance to choose would you put delay & Reverb before ToneX ? What do you think about this ?
@sundaytone
@sundaytone Жыл бұрын
When I used the Strymon Iridium I ran my delay and reverb in front of it. I think I slightly prefer the sound of it in front but it isn’t a huge difference to me. Running them after sounds a little cleaner. They both sound good.

Dude you need to try the suhr Woodshed comp. I've had a few different comps the Woodshed is my Fave by far! It's small perfect for a small pedalboard. How are you liking the tonex? I was thinking about either tonex or UA dream for going direct, not sure which one I'd like better. I don't like that the dream breaks up early.

wish your channel to succeed ! a question I have, where do you plug your board in , to achieve a good guitar sounding at home, cause the tonex is a amp simulator and plugging it into an amp don't seem to be a logic step. on the other hand, active monitors are not a good solution neither for good guitar sound. so how do you achieve your sound, for yourself in your room (not the recorded one) thank you.
@sundaytone

Good question - I am currently using Presonus E5 monitors to play in my room and they are connected to my interface. They sound pretty good and can get pretty loud. Before I had these monitors and I used other amp sims I would just use headphones to play at home. I know some people will run it into a powered cab but I have never tried that.

Hotter than Jazzmaster pickups? You sure? Is it even possible to get hotter than 1 megawatt? xD The standard today as far as I know is around 250-500 kilowatt in most guitars. Maybe I am way off but the jazzmaster pickups are famous for being extremely bright. Like... the brightest.

As a gigging musician, I have always been a little bit amused with church guitarists pedal boards when I see one. 8 pedals is not minimal at all.
@basicforge
@basicforge 9 ай бұрын
Doesn't seem like so much to me. Essentially a couple of drives, a modulation pedal, an amp modeler, a delay pedal and a reverb pedal. There's also a volume pedal and a tuner.

This is pretty basic for church, and I’d say close to basic for outside of church, unless you’re Rivers Cuomo.
@basicforge
@basicforge 8 ай бұрын
@@justinmayfield6579 Yeah, usually you will want at least a couple of reverb pedals for church depending on the style of music. I also use a Pog style pedal here and there. A compressor is also really useful. The first pedal in my chain is a preamp/boost so I can turn the overall level down a little bit to lower the noise floor.
@justinmayfield6579
@justinmayfield6579 8 ай бұрын
@@basicforge That's smart to lower the noise floor. The room sound is going to be clearer in a lot of church buildings than, say, most small club venues would be (as long as the sound tech remembers to put you in the mix haha). And yes, I agree, a compressor is very helpful. So that adds a few more pedals 😂🎉

I’ve been seeing a lot of guys just use a Pod Go lately. Sometimes I think some of the complexity you’ll see in modern worship guitarist’s boards borders on vanity.
