Saw a post on how Monstera Devil Monster was discovered. Apparently the owner grew it from a seed with unknown origin. They said the plant first has little to no variegation but they noticed that the variegation was different. Took them 2 years to propagate from only selected variegated nodes to finally get the Devil Monster.

Can confirm Philodendron ‘Summer Glory’ is a stunner. I have a larger plant of it and it’s very attractive. It crawls OR climbs, exhibiting both habits of its parents. It just depends on its situation. I turn mine regularly so it is growing upward without a moss pole at this point. Main stem is approx 30cm tall, leaves extending 60cm up and out, many pups developing at its base and currently producing THREE blooms. It’s one of my favourite plants.
@corgijungle42888 ай бұрын
does it climb up a pole, I have on a pole but if it doesn't climb its useless.
@adampolak22108 ай бұрын
@@corgijungle4288as far as I can tell it will grow upward on its own until it can’t support its own weight. Judging by its aerial root formation I think it would cling quite happily to a pole. I’m going to put a moss pole in mine in the next few months because it’s growing upward much faster than I expected!

I recently got an unspecified philodendron hybrid. It’s pretty similar to a mccolley's finale, but there’s no green at all. It’s like the gene that makes the leaves green down as they age just didn’t show up in this one. The whole plant is a beautiful bright autumn red-orange. I’m excited to see if it stays like that. Other than that, it’s nothing special. Cost $10. But I couldn’t resist the uniqueness lol

Proud owner of Philodendron Silver Angel and Anthurium Stingray. The tea: Silver Angel is super tough, vigorous, great plant. New leaves are platinum silver with a blush pink back and then they harden off to a light silvery green. The cataphyll and roots are also red. I’ve never lost a single propagation and they size up fast. It’s a crawler. Anthurium Stingray is a complex Indonesian hybrid. From what I understand it can only be called a stingray if it is a clone/cutting of the original. This is much like delta force. It is also called anthurium Ferrari by many. Kartel Daun has the best specimen I’ve seen and my plant is a cutting of that one. Fast grower, hardy, vigorous!

Anthurium Carlablackieae is an actual species as far as I know and that's why there are so many different varieties, bc of the different clones that were wild collected ....
@butchbf26128 ай бұрын
Anthurium carlablackiae actually isn't crossed with anything, it's a species! the name is the giveaway, it was discovered in Panama by Carla Black and described by Tom Croat and Orlando Ortiz (correct me if I'm wrong, I saw both their names recorded in a paper about it). I believe that the variability is just natural variability in species samples or wild hybridisation and not because of differing parent plant traits and genes/ hybridisation through cultivation.
@warp8718 ай бұрын
Yes that is right. It's not the easiest to get a pure Carla, they also come with hefty price tags. It's one of those anthuriums that is closely tied to specific names / nurseries so there is a whole lot of gatekeeping around it. Tons of Carla hybrids out there though as the name is hyped.

Came here to hear your thoughts about the ''Devil Monster'' because I absolutely fell in love with that plant, I can't wait for it to hit the market! But it'll probably be at least 1-2 years before I can afford it. I also love the different forms of Monstera, so I'm also into that Monstera unniae which I didn't know about. I was 95% sure it was a mutated BMF but it seems to be a Monstera deliciosa, the person who has discovered it found it as a deliciosa sport at a garden centre. I'd definitely buy one of these as well. I finally found a serious collector an hour away from me and he has stuff like Monstera brazillian form, sierrana, BMF, and even unique mutants. I got a Monstera deliciosa ''Macrocosm'' aka ''Form 6'' from him, it looks a bit like a brazillian form when it's juvenile but my intuition tells me that this might be the mythic ''Lace Prismatic'' Monstera that's been spotted here and there online. I'll just have to give it 1-2 years and obscene amounts of light to know for sure.
