This is interesting, I actually thought that I shouldn't get those with the white leaves, they seemed very unstable and would die easily, glad I didn't buy them.

Very helpful tips. While downsizing my collection, my epiphany was to stop trying to grow plants that don't fit in the environment I have in my home. I now only have plants that will thrive in the environment I have...voila! Stress gone!

I noticed Kaylee say something really stupid in this video 19:00. This surprised me. She is usually much smarter than this. She said no plant can completely new, they are all "hundreds of years old". No Kaylee, some ciltivars can be literally less than a year old. They are the result of random gene mutations and such mutations are happening all the time and always will. Epipremnum aureum Gold must be the most common house plant in the world today, and the yellow variegation (and hardiness) that made it so common was unknown until 1960! And there are thousands of such examples. Species can be very old of course, but NOT all ciltivars.

Great video. You showed me a different way to look at it than some other creators have who talked about the same topic.

I am currently going through this. I downsized already in the last 2 years and next week I will probably sell many more. I still will have plants but more for the interior of my apartment instead of a huge collection. I started to get new hobbies, go out more and I cant manage to find the time to care for them for hours and I dont want to anymore if I am honest.

Try giving them away to friends and family or selling 🙂 I can't throw plants away either unless they're dead, but recently I decluttered by just gifting the plants I'm not so crazy about to a couple of friends and my mom and it helped a lot!

I’m decluttering like crazy!! I got rid of 100+ plants, duplicates, ones that don’t bring joy, and I finally feel like I can breath again with my collection.

I’ll never understand how these bugs get on our plants when we keep them clean, water them and baby them. Just baffles my brain.

I commiserate! This season, I made a concerted effort to sell off select plants from my Jade collection, gifted several specimens, and tossed duplicates that I couldn't sell or give away. I also hard-pruned many of my largest plants, namely the potted citrus that have to be overwintered indoors. Feels good going into Autumn, knowing that I will have window-space for all my best plants, and room to fit everything else into the greenhouse.

I’ve moved all my plants in our living room that we never used. It’s now the most beautiful spot in the house because of my plants and the beautiful grow lights from Soltech and my husbands beautiful tables he created for me. Love that room now. This video is awesome great tips!

My current problem is, selling plants (eBay and Facebook) has become very difficult where I live (big city) even though I am pricing things quite low. I think most people here have grown out of the “hype” or have become lazy to go an extra 10-15min away from the city center or whatever. Until last year, plants were sold quite quickly. It’s not only me either: we have a Facebook group and the posts mostly go without offer.

I have gotten rid of plants this fall. Kept some in moss nearly all summer to help them regrow roots and they had done hardly anything so out they went. I had to get rid of some succulents that consistently had powdery mildew and no matter what i did it came back. Well i wasn't going to let them infect my others.

I downsized from 200 to 100 plants and it is great! My friends got new plants and i got some space and time back. The main reason was that i adopted 2 kittens and their mommy and i knew that it will be a struggle to keep them away. After a few weeks, they got used to them but i think i will try to stay around 100 , i am stressing less about plant chores 😅

Kaylee.... a very quick question. I'm new to the plant parent world and I'm slowly easing myself in and thoroughly enjoying it! I'm on the verge of buying a young established Monstera which I'm stoked for. I noticed that you don't have regular moss poles on yours.... are they coconut poles? Personally I think regular plastic moss poles look a bit poop, and your home setup looks way slicker. Are the coconut poles okay for aerial roots? Should I consider something else for it to climb up? Any input would be greatly valued.

I find it soo difficult to get rid of plants. However, I have noticed that when I do get rid of one, I never miss it after having done so. I never regret it. And yet I always tend to hold onto plants much longer than I need to, hehe.
