Did you track your 2024 spending and what are your spending goals for 2025? 👀

Pet insurance is super worth it! Wish I'd had been paying for higher coverage when my cat had to go to the emergency vet this year. But the insurance made everything feel more manageable.

Yess team pet insurance!! I am so glad it helped you take care of your kitty earlier this year, they are our family 💛

I love that you included a giving category. 💕 I use Canada Helps for recurring donations and love it. That's something I want to work on spending more on in 2025 as well. 😊 Also - homemade gifts!!! SO underrated!!!

Omg thank you for mentioning Canada Helps, this is exactly what I need! I love that we are both upping our giving budget in 2025 😊

I use YNAB and love the way it helps me reflect in the moment and at the end of the year. I groaned at a few categories, but like you I have a better sense of what may happen in 2025. Hoping to groan just a bit less next January 😂

Hahaha the groaning is real 🤣but this is the spirit! We can't change what's done but I am so glad we both looked at our overall annual spending because it can help us shift for 2025!

This was super interesting to me. I’d be kinda scared to add everything up lol. My top costs are likely rent and healthcare

Totally, I have been good about tracking monthly, but never really taken a look at my annual total before and I was terrified lol. I think most people would be shocked to see what their actual total spend is 😱

I’m scared to check. In fall I downloaded all my YTD statements from my credit cards and checking/saving accounts to tally my spending. I was so overwhelmed I just said forget it. I’m going to revisit the exercise because I really need to pay down my debt this year.

Yess you can do it! I was also so scared to look but I think it's worth it 💜wishing you all the best on your debt repayment, you've got this.

This is cool to see. I do exactly the same thing myself and track it with a program I wrote. It is amazing and depressing how much it costs to live. I posted mine for 2023 and have the numbers for 2024. I am single now because my wife passed away in 2021. This year mine came in at 91202.07 not counting investing. I will post my break down later. My food budget was $6163.75. That does include household products like cleaning supplies and paper stuff and eating out. I have few friends so I eat out rarely, like once every three months I think so that is not a big consideration towards my overall expense but I do eat when available, vital farms pasture raised eggs. My spending goal is pay off my apartment building loan. $55k to go I think.

Amazing and depressing sums it up perfectly😭 some of it is definitely personal choice but housing, transportation, food have all gotten so expensive, it's really shocking to see it all added up like this!
