Hey Lily! on the credit cards - you can totally pay down the full amount. Just leave them open and every month spend just a little bit that you can pay off at the end of the months to keep them active. I've been doing that and it's helped my credit come back up (it was so bad a few years ago I got denied when I tried to open a CC)

Favorite color is green too! And don’t beat yourself up! Go with the pay down plan that works for you! My husband and I are on our debt free journey as well and we do a mix of snowball and avalanche because that’s what works for us. We just paid off a debt that had a $300 monthly payment but only rolled over $150 of that into our snowball payment because we wanted to add the other half into our budget for sinking funds. You have to do what’s best for you!

my favorite color is blue, green or anything in the middle!! i never thought about how the interest should be okay if under the 30%. i see that everyone is recommending putting a small expense on the card to leave it open but in the end it’s whatever is easiest and most doable for your budget! i’ve always been scared to share a debt plan because of the critiques from others about things such as interest or how they think i SHOULD do it. i appreciate you for this! you inspired me to sit down and make a plan for myself since i also haven’t really been debt focused 💛

Okay I'm definitely going to try, tbh though I have BAD self control and don't fully trust myself not to spend a lot on them again! Maybe I can request a decrease in my maximum? Is that a thing? LOL💛
@authenticallyallison9 күн бұрын
@LilyBudgets sorry for my typo. I meant my scores went up when I paid them off but I think you know what I meant. Asking for a credit line decrease I believe negatively affects your credit score because of debt to owe ratios and that sort of thing BUT the lack of self control I totally understand! I've been actively on this debt free journey and am a person who had impulse shopping issues and still struggle at times. I did not incorporate this practice right away...not until I became more disciplined and had more impulse control. So do only what you are comfortable with. You know yourself more than anybody else.

The 30% rule is a tall lie. What helps is paying off your credit cards in full every month and not keeping a balance. That’s how you also avoid interest, and get the perks. My husband hasn’t paid cc interest in YEARS but still reaps the rewards of 3% cash back. Don’t let cc take advantage of you, take advantage of them.
@LilyBudgets9 күн бұрын

i use my credit cards irregularly but sometimes you have to (online purchases, and our local hockey team’s stadium is cash free so anything we buy there has to go on a card) but we pay ourselves back using cash stuffed envelopes so it doesn’t get out of hand - otherwise, the cards p much stay at home and we don’t use nfc payments either. it’s really cut our excess spending - before we started cash budgeting, we were spending close to $700 per month on dining out, we have ours limited to a max of $280 (200 for the month for joint restaurant trips, plus 10 per person per week for lunch while we’re in the office) and it is actually working really well!

My favorite color is Yellow. Some advice if there’s any credit card you feel like you will rack up the debt on again after paying ,close it. yes it will hurt you credit a little bit but you are young and already have a home and probably won’t need the credit soon other than for the car and paying all this debt will increase your credit score because your utilization rate on your available credit as a whole is going to go down. When I paid off all my CC and my car my credit score sky rocketed to 850.

As someone who worked in retail store cards were always a bad one because i saw first hand how predatory the interest rate are and hated having to have people open them. I closed the one i had first. Get a bank credit card or if you have one keep that. Something with good rewards like cash back on gas and groceries to build your credit long term by using it on thing you already purchase and it’s helped me to keep my score up and stay debt free while enjoying the rewards. I cash stuff whatever i will spend on gas and grocery and have my card set up on auto pay i make sure to deposit the money before it comes out of my account and if i have any i use it for saving. @annie4horses10 күн бұрын
I think as soon as you make a payment, the promo kicks in. Depending on the amount, it tells you the promo term. Ex. $500 is 6 months, $1,000 is 18 months, etc.

@annie4horses ok. Thank you. That makes sense.
@kellys958410 күн бұрын
My dentist told me they pay the interest (during the promo period) when I used mine for my kids braces. This was like 10 years ago but I guess it was a deal between care credit and the dentist. Not sure if that’s true or they were just saying that but when you go to use it I’d ask your dentist if you’re getting the no interest payback plan, just to cover your bases.
@annie4horses10 күн бұрын
@@kellys9584 That is the strangest thing I have ever heard. Are you sure it was interest and not the card processing fee? Businesses either eat that cost or pass it to the consumer. The finance company (Synchrony) that runs CareCredit is the one responsible for charging and collecting the interest. If it's 0% APR in a promo, then there's no extra monies being billed.

Never pay interest to build credit. Once you pay down the credit cards, pay the statement balance every month (not minimum payment) and your credit will be fine. You don't need to pay interest - this is a myth! We've never carried a balance (and paid interest) and my credit score is 827.

Why do people use store credit cards the interest on them is too high. You only need one credit card, maybe two as a backup in case you really need it. Open an account at a credit union, use their credit card. My interest rate is 12% it used to be 5% but it went up in recent years.

@@LilyBudgets You also avoid all those stupid bank fees. Love my credit union.

@@U2BearCat I am also with a credit union💛 I plan to pay them all to zero and the only one I’m closing is the massive one that I lack self control spending on. The other 3 are staying open!

@@LilyBudgets It took me a long time to figure out to save the money first and have it already before I make any purchases.

Can you start separating your selling and the true meaning of budgeting separate, I know for me, I don't care to really hear it, only here for the budgeting..I will monitor ur channel and listen to videos that have no selling in it. I understand your sponsored, but not interested in that.

It's wrong to tell people what they should be featuring in THEIR videos. That's just rude. If you don't like their content then DON'T WATCH.

Honey I'm a budgeting channel working with low income, you can skip over the sponsored content if you don't want to listen to it, I totally get that, but ya girl needs to make more money than I already am or I'll be struggling for real😅
