I got rid of all my heavy Canon gear and got the Nikon Z 30 and kit lenses for photography. I'm 72 and wanted something light in weight and more compact.

Looking forward to next year’s vid on downsizing your gear 😉 I’m currently running with the Z6III and Zf. Only lens on my radar for 2025 is the 180-600. Body, I’d like another Z8 someday. I say “another” because I sold my original (long story) and I miss having 45mp for macro and wildlife. I also really miss the multi-angle tilt screen, best I’ve used. These off-axis flippy screens are a real disadvantage for photography (my use cases, anyway).

Headed into 2025, I'm rocking a D850, a D750 and a Canon SL2 for video.

Hey What’s the best budget lens for nikon z30 for cinematic videos (travel, events, festivals)

I use the Nikon Z7 and use the old 80-400 AF-S with an adapter for landscapes and crazy stuff like flying insects to get an other world depth of field to experience the insects world view. Insects at 400 mm flying through clover. I encourage everyone to try very different ideas. My Kit includes 14-30 F4 and 24-120 F4, and I use the Z30 for video , guess we are on the same page. I used to use my drones for strictly video, but now use the Mavic 3 Pro more for photograph. It is like having a portable tripod that goes anywhere and is up to 400' high. Thanks for your input on KZbin

My basic travel kit is composed of a Z7 II with the Sigma 12-24mm zoom, the 24-120mm S zoom, and the Tamron 70-300mm zoom. If I feel the urge to go long I'll substitute the Tamron 150-500mm zoom. With the higher resolution of the Z7 II a DX crop yields 19mp which is plenty if I want to go longer to 750mm. Downside is that the AF on the Z7 II is dragging two expeed 6 boat anchors. Which is why I also have a Zf. If I have a need for speed the Zf is there and it's low light capabilities are stunning, it is likely to be the finest low light camera Nikon currently makes. As for primes, 26mm f2.8, 40mm f2, 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8, and a 105mm f2.8. If Nikon ever makes a 135mm f2.8 in the z mount I will get one, IMO the Plena is a nice statement lens but impractical for any use outside of the studio because it's too fat, too heavy, and too costly.

I think your kit is totally amazing. I have a very efficient kit being the Nikon D7500 with the DX lenses, 10-20mm, 18-140mm, and the 70-300mm. My kit perhaps doesn’t do every thing but it does most as I’m also into landscape photography. My kit probably cost less than your “Plena” lens but I’m not a professional photographer, just an enthusiast. Cheers

Thank you! Your kit is pretty solid as well, I’ve heard great things about the d7500 and your set up covers all the focal lengths that you could never need for landscapes.

Just a thought, I would ditch the the Z30, replace the Z6 with another Z6iii, Yo can shoot the Z6iii in DX mode and have image stabilization and full dynamic range.

Dope video! I'm new to Nikon and this helps a lot. Currently rocking the ZF with the 40 f2, 26 f2.8 and 24-120 f4 S lens. I'm wanting to get into bird photography soon, and the lens I'm looking at most is the 100-400 S lens. What I didn't consider, is the reach advantage of APSC. Makes me wonder, maybe a Z30 Z50 could be good as a backup for birding!
@TheProjectPhotography19 күн бұрын
if you’re considering an APS-C mirrorless camera for birding then the Z50 II would be amazing. That camera has updated AF, similar to the Z8 and Z9. Thank you for your kind words!

Your kits fantastic and yes definitely trade in the 24-70 for the 24-120. My kit consists of Z8 24-120 f4 70-200 2.8 2x tc These 4 items in my bag are fantastic for landscape. 24-400 essentially with 2 lenses and tc Also in my kit Z6ii 50 1.8 105 mc 2.8 Viltrox 85 and 16 1.8 The z50ii is on my radar currently to gain reach to 600mm and also increase my macro range also.

What is your everyday setup when you are not working?
@TheProjectPhotography19 күн бұрын
I really love my Z6 + 28mm or Z30 + 28mm. Love the lightweight set up
@NetvoTV18 күн бұрын
@TheProjectPhotography do you think a flat lens really needed or a 14-30mm/28-400mm as everyday lens won't much burden too? If it's not going to be pocketable and you going to wear it, might as well make it more versatile?

How do you get landscape work and do client pay you to travel to those locations if not, how do one make it back especially tho oversea location works?
@TheProjectPhotography19 күн бұрын
When I had more landscape work (I did work for my local city) they’d pay for travel and any expenses related. My business model revolves around content creation more now, I just got back from CES working with Snapdragon and they paid for everything and even took me and my team out to have meals a couple of times. It’s pretty amazing tbh.

@@TheProjectPhotography wow you must be reach out to them yourself and know how to market yourself nicely, there is still a lot questions I have of how to start and find clients but I guess I can search for related contents, but wow you replied, I remember you don't always reply and I do think reply will get more views for your videos. I really want to able to get myself a Zf and 28-400mm to kick start my photography gig journey soon, if you and anyone you know would love to have a logo, business card, merch print arts for your branding and other artwork to be done, let me know! :-)

Isnt the 28-400mm f4-8 able to do what 24-120 ale to do mostly and more if you shoot it at day time? Why not use the 14-30mm as everyday lens? With this 2 lens seem like you don't need other lens already
@TheProjectPhotography19 күн бұрын
the 28-400mm is great when there’s a lot of light out, but there’s times where the 24-120mm is a better lens especially in low light telephoto scenarios. When I reference the 24-120mm it’s mainly about the one lens travel type of scenario.

@@TheProjectPhotography I see, I notice it's about f6.3 at 105mm range, 6.3 is where a lot kit lens and zoom lens is, and some photos I see took at f8 at night too, I don't really know why people say this 28-400mm can't do well at night, I can't find a clear video to explain it but more videos actually about that lens can do well too at night with not much noise if you don't pixel peak
