Ooh I just read one of Jesmyn Ward's books last week! It was her nonfiction/memoir and her writing is gorgeous. I need to try some of her fiction. I'm gonna add Crystal Hefner's book to my list. It's the first I've heard of it and it sounds right up my alley, thanks for the rec!
