MY 2nd DOLLAR TREE DiNNER FOR OUR FAMilY OF 10~ BAKED SHRIMP TACOS

So this is my dollar tree dinner, and I decided to make baked shrimp tacos. The inspiration came from my daughter Izzy who made us Carnitas not too long ago and she baked the shells, and they were so so good. So I thought that would be a great idea for this next dinner idea.
They turned out pretty good. I think next time I’m not going to get the egg rolls because it does add quite a bit of money to the total for making dinner. And I thought that the inside of the eggrolls were shredded veggies, but it was more like chopped and so my vision was a little bit off because of that. So I think I’m gonna stick with just the frozen veggies. I really would love to see dollar tree start having more fresh veggies and fruits which maybe that might be something in the future. But this was super easy and I’m excited to do my next dollar tree dinner for our big family.
Everybody really liked the shrimp tacos. Even my husband said they were better than my first stirfry that I did. He just didn’t like me adding the eggroll shells because they were kind of mushy so I think next time if I ever do that, I’m going to air fry the shells and then when they make their dinner, they can just sprinkle on top. But these were really really good, I am missing the cheese, so I think next time I’m gonna look for some cheese to sprinkle on top.
So just a couple tips when you make these is you are going to have to cook your veggies a little bit because they’re frozen they do police a lot of water and you might have to drain a little bit of that water out but it does cook up nice and evaporates a lot of that. With the shells they were really good, but I didn’t drain my black beans enough and saw the bottoms were kind of soggy. Then looking back at Izzy’s taco, she made she actually use the hard shell tacos and so I would recommend getting one or two boxes of the hard shell tacos instead and that way the bottoms won’t fall apart. But they were really good. My kids had three and four of them. I know they didn’t look too good, but they were absolutely amazing.
This is quite a challenge for me to cook for a big family with nothing but things that are at the dollar tree, but as I watch the videos myself, I’m noticing other products on the shelf so it gives me ideas for the next meal. I’m gonna be out of town for a little bit so look for that third dollar tree dinner for our big family next week

I am so thankful that my dad retired from the post office when he did. Prices for stamps are going to go even higher with less and less people using USPS. So, if you do your invitations by mail, you’re better off just purchasing forever stamps. Then, if you have any left over, you can always use forever stamps. It doesn’t matter how much the price goes up.

My husband and kids love when I use Jasmine rice when I make coconut rice for dessert. I call it coconut rice pudding. I cooked Jasmine rice in coconut milk or coconut water then I added sweetener shredded coconut and two bratting eggs. When come to the coconut milk you can use the sweetener coconut milk or unsweetened coconut milk if you use the unsweetened coconut milk you need to add 1/4 cup of sugar bring the rice up to a boil then lower to low then add 1/2 cup of shredded coconut and two bratting eggs and1/8 teaspoon vanilla cook to cream.

For invitations: you only need 1 invite with stamp per couple or family, so likely only 75 or 100 BUT likely as someone else has mentioned usually etiquette says to put a stamp on the rsvp. So still not 300 stamps maybe 200. However, now some couples set up a wedding website for rsvps or ask people to message the couple then you could do away with traditional rsvp stamps. Also, it is acceptable to hand out invites in person, so you would be down to stamps only for out of town family and friends.

Hello Mrs. Bell if you rinse your rice about 3-4 times until your water comes clear, then add your regular water to the rice and cook it as is. Then when the rice is done rinse it once more put back in the pot. And your rice will NOT be clumsy. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Heather, our DT has Jennifer's Garden spring rolls in the frozen section, which are wonderful. There are 10 in a package, and the outside is more like phylo dough . The inside has cabbage, carrots, and maybe onions. My hubby and I put them in the toaster oven.

One of your dollar tree dinners could be chicken pot pie with the can chicken & frozen veggies & can cream chicken soup. You could do chicken casserole with the can chicken cream of mushroom soup frozen green beans & stuffing as well. The shrimp tacos looked pretty good ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

That is really cool idea! However , I have $2 trees in my area. Another one of them carries as much stuff as you have in even the 1 that you said was smaller. You guys still have way more like our Dollar Tree frozen section. It's like a little corner and then you've got like a cooler for like dairy stuff, but not very much. And then the rest is canned and whatever and it's hit-or-miss so in our stores, I think I see something that I'm not gonna make like by the way, but might be making in the near future. I grab it because the next time I go in. They took. They typically won't have it. Because I was told one time that they're like all the they get. Whatever is dropped off to them. They don't actually place an order.

Another idea for a DT dinner is homemade pizza. I consider myself a bit of a pizza snob and vas VERY skeptical of their pizza crusts, but let me tell you….if you like thin crust pizza, those crusts are REALLY tasty! They have personal sized size crusts (pack of 2) and larger crusts (single pack).m

In the future just saute your peppers first, add the rest towards the end with the shrimp at the absolute last since they take like no time to cook and overcooked shrimp is tuff. This is a meal you are creating so trial and error is allowed.😊❤

My mother in law made a similar rice in the crockpot one time and it was so absolutely delicious. It was rice, coconut flakes, mango, shredded chicken and idk what else but it was so tasty and flavorful.

For chipotle sauce you can do mayonnaise, plain yogurt, chipotle powder and cumin. Or do smoke paprika and cayenne pepper if you can’t find chipotle

Suggestion.... use the coconut milk to cook the rice not just flavor it. So you would add it in the beginning like you would water. Also the more you stir rice the more mushy it becomes. But maybe you you all like that texture.

I need to get some shrimp and make fish tacos now! When you cook dinner from a dollar store haul, yes, you can use ingredients you already have, like sour cream! Shrimp cooks very fast. You can add it to your vegetable mix in the last 8-10 minutes, after veggies are cooked. A good sauce for shrimp (or any fish) tacos is ... mayo, plain yogurt (or sour cream), cumin, onion and garlic powder, cumin, apple cider vinegar, cilantro, salt. You can tone down your bottled jerk sauce by adding honey, or mix some with mayo/sour cream. Good with chicken. Coconut milk is so good in rice! You can substitute some of the water in rice with coconut milk. Now I need to make jamaican rice, too! I think I have some frozen tropical fruit.

Standard postage stamps are $0.68. Tell her to request the FOREVER stamps so that it is postage covered guaranteed even if the price of a stamp goes up before using it. The $0.68 (individual stamp) covers weight of an ounce or less. So stamp accordingly, lol. Oh heck, just lick a dollar and stick it to it, lol. May as well at this point.

Next time maybe you could try just draping the tortillas over the racks in your oven and they will take shape, just make sure that they have a large enough gap. May be less time-consuming for your attention and hands. I would have just mixed the black beans in with the filling before stuffing the tacos so that I only had to fill once.

You could have made a creamy salsa with the coconut milk, fruit, and some chili flakes ( they have it at DT) with the citrus garlic. Add salt to taste. and that could have gone on your tacos. It would be really good ☺️.

Heather, if you ever see it.. try sazon goya. Sautee some bacon and onions, add the sazon goya seasoning and chicken broth to the rice. If you wanna cut cost, just leave out the onions and bacon and cook the rice with broth. You could also add leftover protein like chicken or bell peppers but it really doesn't need it

All the stamps are Forever Stamps now. So no matter what price you bought them at you can use them. Even if they jack the price. Is crazy the prices they charge and mail seems worse. Both my kid's stamps for their weddings cost more than their invites. It adds up fast.

@V.I.C. yes, as long as says forever on the stamp can be used. I found old Forever stamps when I moved and was able to use them and no issues. I also bought 20 new ones before the price went up again and the post office told me all good. So at least can still use and glad they made all first-class Stamps forever stamps. ☺️

I'd say if your walmart and dollar tree are close together to shop around. Some stuff you can get cheaper at walmart, some you can't. Also pay attention to the sizes, some of the stuff at dollar tree are small and you might have to get 2 or more when you can get 1 at walmart for cheaper. If they're not close then figure out which would be best overall with gas usage.
