OUR FAMilY OF 10 DURING A BLiZZARD~ COOKING, SHOVELING, AND CLYDESDALE & 4,000 CHICKENS

Tradition is whenever there is a snowstorm and the kids get out of school me and Noah make a big breakfast and so we had another blizzard warning and we’re expected to get a little over 2 feet of snow. I got all of the breakfast items out the night before because according to the kids teachers, they probably would not be in school.
Before the blizzard even started, our power went out for almost 2 1/2 hours which is not good because we have 4000 chickens and we have to make sure that they are safe and also we have a barn full of Clydesdale horses with one baby horse on the way. We finally got power that night around 10:30 pm and then I woke up at 3:30 in the morning , and our power was out again. So my husband had to get the generators going over at the barn because the lights come on at 5:30 in the morning, so the chickens can lay their eggs and the nest have to open up and we have to make sure the chickens are nice and warm with water and food. Finally after 3 1/2 hours the power finally came on and me and my husband went back to sleep. The wind was blowing so bad that we were up again at eight so needless to say me and my husband got no sleep because we were worried about Farm, the kids, and the power.
But we did get up, got breakfast going. The girls went over to the barn to wash eggs I went and grabbed eggs for breakfast because I realized I had none got to go visit the horses, the chickens, and then spend time with my family. A couple of my boys had to work for a little bit, but were able to get off and come over and relax with us later on. I honestly don’t mind the snow because that gives me more time with my family, but now that it’s April I’m ready for it to be done so we can start enjoying the spring like the rest of the world.

I have a large family, some now have left home, some still here. You do cook large but I find it difficult to cook smaller amounts. So I end up making ready meals to put in the freezers. I am 71 now and slowing down which I do not like. Lots of grandchildren now too. 😀👍👍👍

I am 73 years old and I have osteoarthritis really bad and I can’t even stand up to cook anymore. Cooking is something I love and I miss it so much. My greatest joy as a mother was cooking for my children when they come home. Birthday dinners were always special and I made the entire meal around what they liked. Making dinner for the grandkids was so much fun because they would call me to “discuss” what they wanted. My youngest grandson would change his mind and call me every day the week before his birthday. At least I have the memories

Easy way to make sausage gravy. Brown your sausage in the pan that you are making the gravy in, add flour into the the sausage use enough until it doesn’t absorbed anymore and flour is brown. Then add seasonings and milk. It’s so easy especially for a large family.

Hope y'all don't have any problems with the bird flu!! Gave our granddaughter a chicken and he was the meanest rooster we ever had!! So we gave him to a friend that needed a rooster but he didn't live long because of cayote got him. We use to have Belgium horses and our granddaughter followed her Pawpaw outside when he went to feedthem.....I looked out of the kitchen window and she was standing under one of the horses and that Belgium was standing so still and the look on that horses face was priceless because he knew something was under him and he was so afraid to move. Wonderful memories!!

I suppose the gravy is made different according to where you’re from, I’m from the south and my version of breakfast gravy is browning the rue to a very dark tan, with the bacon or sausage grease and it’s not a thick rue but I was taught the browning of your rue is where your taste comes from, all so I’ve never added garlic powder for a breakfast gravy, it was nice watching your way of making gravy! Thank you!

With the cauliflower you came make mashed cauliflower, like madhed potatoes. It is really good. My nephew told me to try the cauliflower pizza crust pizzas. There is no difference in taste. I’m sure your gravy is fantastic but I wanted to share a one pan gravy that’s super easy and tasty. Cook 1lb of sausage and in the same pan without draining add 1/2 cup of all purpose flour mix and cook a couple of mins, now add 4-5 cups of whole milk and heat until thickened (add whatever seasonings you like. 💗

You sell under multiple brand names I’ve seen Eglin‘s best box there with other boxes so I was kind of confused. I’m also glad to see you have a Cage free operation. Obviously pastors best but with the snow there.. and you definitely can tell the difference in the way they takes to not so much between C3 and C3 but I know vital Farms. There are actually much darker and they actually taste so much better. I can always afford them because there’s high cost, I always buy cage free if I can’t buy them, I would ;buy cage free do you sell your eggs directly and where are their nest boxes? I didn’t see them when you open the door are you all considered kate? I’m assuming you definitely are considered free but all that you all considered organic too

How come you all don’t sell the jumbos I have never seen any cage free operation that sells jumbos. I have once found extra large but normally ever since I switched to cage free I cannot even get extra large or jumbo. It makes me so upset. I definitely want jumbo eggs. But I’ve never seen any in cage free. Also if you guys wanna try like specialty eggs, a friend of mine started like breeding eggs, like having eggs that’s kind of like a hobby and she does what called Easter eggs her chickens lay colored eggs. They lay blue eggs, and kind of like a reddish egg and really neat, she also has black chickens. Are they black eggs? Their beautiful eggs are called Easter eggs so some kind of type they are absolutely amazing. I don’t know why they don’t sell them in store. You’ll find in my area or what’s called heritage which are blue.
