In this video I talk about three Data Science Offers I got from Tech leaders such as Lyft, Airbnb, and Twitter. I break down all the different parts of a typical DS offer and compare how different companies compensate for the same types of roles. Lastly, I’ll take a look at what my offers from the aforementioned tech giants would be in 2022, and the results just might surprise you!

Great Video Like always. There is one topic that I think can be helpful for people who have kids and are trying to figure out if they will have a good work life balance if they move to FAANG companies. I have been a data scientist in a Non-Tech company for a couple of years and with having little kids, I am not sure how much I should sacrifice my personal life for work. It certainly depends on the company and the team but there should be a general trend in FAANG companies VS others. Thank you

Morning Emma, thank you so much for preparing this video, it's really helpful since I'm about to enter the negotiation stage! One quick tip if you could include the location of your offer would be better since compensation would vary from location. Again, appreciate it!

Hey Emma, did you interview for the Decisions team or the Algorithms team at Lyft? Can you tell the difference in the interview processes for both?

Thanks for sharing! Do you have a rough estimate what these numbers would be at the same companies in Europe? (Let’s say in the Netherlands or in Germany)
@InfinitesimallyInfinite

Haha these salaries are crazy high for any company in the Netherlands. Even most directors do not earn more than 200k, average experienced data scientist these days earn 50k-70k, seniors 70k-90k. 100k+ is only in big tech.

The position I applied for Lyft and Twitter are product driven, and the one in Airbnb is data engineering driven. Hope this answers your question!

Were these senior level positions? And do junior / entry-level positions typically include salary bonuses and stock options? Thanks!

Hi Justin, these are level 4 positions, which is kind of between senior (level 5) and entry level.
