You might be the only one over youtube who is teaching some practical trading strategies, and you also might be the only one who shows his backtest result and then again also ask viewers to backtest on their own for different scripts 👌

Thanks for the kind words. The way to get confidence in your trading is by testing yourself. Most people cannot do that!

Thanks! These ideas are pure gold. I actually use an entry script very similar to the first example, but using the closing price of current bar , relative to closing price of bar y bars back. Using the candle's range relative to the average range for y bars back is a great idea!

Hi Kevin and thanks again for the video and that you always answer all questions people have. I am at a point of your book, where a thought came to mind: What if I apply one system multiple times to the market, to trade the same scenario on multiple different live accounts. Would the market makers manipulate my edge if I do that or is it ok ... and if it's ok, then how many times should I let the algo run the same time all at once? Thanks so much and all the best to you!

It depends how much size you trade. For most markets, for most retail traders, it is not a big concern.

They would have to be tested for forex markets, possibly adjusted, but they might. Worth testing, for sure.

Hi Kevin. In a given day do you ever use multiple of the same algo on the same instrument but on different timeframes? If so, do you consider that to be part of good diversification? Thanks
@AlgoTradingWithKevinDavey8 ай бұрын
I will normally test an algo on different timeframes (bar sizes). If it is good on multiple bar sizes, I will then look to see what the correlation of the performances look like. If there is enough diversification there, then yes I might trade both.

Thank you for that. Good to know.@@AlgoTradingWithKevinDavey

Have you thought deploying price inefficiency strategies? I believe in a developed market you might not find too many inefficiencies as they would be scalped by big banks. In EMs like India there are many. If you want we can connect and take this conversation bit forward. P.S. I am a CPA and an aspiring CFA working with S&P Global.

If you are talking arbitrage, then you are probably right - so many people are already doing it, there is not much money in it. Thanks for the comment!

Hi Kevin, great video. Could you briefly explain more about the diversity you mentioned about 14 minutes in? By diversity, do you mean diffrent strategies on for example diffrent timeframes, stocks? Is this better, more encouraged in your opinion rather than having just one strategy? Thank you :)
@AlgoTradingWithKevinDavey4 жыл бұрын
Hi Eliot - Thanks for the question. You can diversify in many ways - different strategies, different timeframes, different stocks or futures (what I trade), different sectors, etc. The key is the performance of the strategies should not be too correlated. That way, the strategies tend to work together to smooth the overall equity curve. Hope this helps!

I can't get a single one of these to work. Even with opposite entries. One year they're up the next year they're down. Really random. Oil, gold, sp500, forex, daily , 4 hour , 1 hour .... I'd appreciate it if anyone could let me know the instrument + time frame they work on? Thanks so much

Thanks for the comment. #1 was Soybeans, #2 was Nat Gas and #3 was mini S&P. Note that you'll want to try various exits, as that makes a big difference. Good Luck!
