Finally watching this Trevor! I think I told you that I saw Crosby, Stills, Nash at Pine Knob in the late 80s with my old friend from Windsor, Ontario. One of my other favorite venues in Detroit, but for food is Lafayette’s for Coney style chili dogs at 1AM. Cool video with some fun stories! ✌️

Thanks Mike! Lafayette is great. But, American Coney has a slight edge with me😁 Damn, now I’m hungry

Harpos looks awesome! Great video Trevor! I love the old school decor 👊🏻

Harpos was definitely one of the more dangerous places to go. Jamey Jasta from Hatebreed always makes fun of that place. “I don’t what’s scarier about Harpos. Outside or inside?”😆 Thanks for watching brother!

Man, I'm too old and scared to go to Harpo's anymore. 😆 I saw some cool shows there in my younger days, but now that I know I'm not immortal it doesn't seem worth it. I love Small's! The Sanctuary in Hamtramck is good too. I lot of underground bands are playing Hamtramck now instead of the city which is fine by me. Great Polish food and free parking! Great video, cheers Trevor!

Thanks Scott! I haven’t been to Sanctuary yet. Used to go all of the time when it was Paychecks.

Holy hell you saw some geeat shows Trev! Wow dude! Metallica opening for Ozzy has to be my fave of all time man! At least as good as Maiden or Priest. I can't pick a fave lol! Although Mr.Bungle would've been incredible too man! Love this with your stories. So many concerts. I prefer the smaller venues personally. Oh, and Englebert? I feel your pain my friend. My mom had a couple of 8 tracks that were on steady play in our family car lol! Good stuff. Cheers bud! 🍻✌️🤘🎶🤘

Thanks Mark! Those were just off of the top of my head. I could easily do videos of each venue. Especially in the 90s.

This was awesome Trevor! I really loved it. Plus it’s helpful. I’ve been to Pine Knob and Harpos but none of the others. That stage at Harpos is way too high! I remember that. I saw Dio there and Doro was opening up. I had a neck strain looking up lol. Thanks for the shoutout and for doing such a great job with this 🤘

There’s also some great (and iconic) venues outside of the Detroit area. Ann Arbor has the Blind Pig, The Ark, Blue Llama, Michigan Theatre, State Theatre, and Hill Auditorium. SE Michigan is an incredible place for music and I consider myself very lucky to have grown up in this area.

If I ever go to Detroit, this will be handy. I have been there once, but it was ages ago.

I go back every so often. No often enough though. Since I’ve been out west, when I’ve gone home for a visit, I’ve only gone to two shows. So, a lot has probably changed at most of the places I’ve been to and some that opened after I left. Glad you enjoyed it Brian! Cheers!

There’s so many great venues in the Detroit area (past and present). Pine Knob, Freedom Hill, Clutch Cargos, The Shelter, St Andrew’s, The Fillmore, Fox Theatre, they are (or were) all fantastic places. “The Shelter” in 8 Mile was shot in a warehouse. I’m assuming it was done because there’s just not enough space to film in the real place.
