Other comapanies have locking flex heads. Gearwrench has a bunch of different locking ones in different sizes. They have the 120xp he has, a 120xp with a wider head, 90T and 90T compact, and 84T. All of them are good.

I had a You Tuber send me a #42793 3/8" drive flex head USA made Craftsman that was sitting in a radiator support of a 1972 Torino in a junkyard since the 1980s. I cleaned it up, rebuilt it with some new parts and it works like new. The video of it being found can be viewed on Classic Ride Society's channel by searching for "1972 Torino" and it's about 17 minutes or so into the video where the ratchet is found. It was found in the light blue Torino (as he's found multiple Torinos in the junkyard).

Jeff I have the 120xp in comfort grip and I really like it it's a very nice ratchet. Last Saturday I was passing my local Advance Auto and figured what the hell I will go in and see if they have the 3 piece Die Hard ratchet set in stock. They did and it was on sale so I had to buy it. You were right my friend they are nice ratchets I am glad I was able to purchase them on sale made my day. I have had my eye on them for awhile because I knew they were pretty nice ratchets but with you showing them on your channel you showed me a couple things I didn't know about them that made my decision easier. Guys that complain about 36 tooth count ratchets, like you cannot get any lower without realizing that the 36 were the fine tooth count decades ago. The fine tooth are nice, but not necessary for probably 98% of the ratchet jobs. Ratchets are a horrible tool, the slightest change and you need to have that new one, have to explain to your loved one "Of course I need this new one hon"

If you are a fan of those 36t williams/snap on ratchets you should give the OEM tools 36t ratchets a try. Taiwan made, satin chrome, same style mechanism. They are available on amazon and ebay but depending on the seller can be overpriced. typically in the 20-50$ range depending on configuration. Solid ratchets just like the old 36t duralasts from years past.

Man, choosing my favorite 1/4" ratchet, or choosing my favorite ratchet at all would be almost impossible lol. It would likely be a Ko-ken, or maybe my snap-on roto head ratchet. I'm a sucker for roto head ratchets, but you know that, lol. I really really hope Ko-ken comes out with a 72 tooth z-series roto head ratchet in the near future!! That thing would be freaking awesome!! Im just about done with US made tools, I tell yeah. The quality just gets worse and worse, but the cost keeps going up every year. I did however just score a gorgeous new old stock set USA made Armstrong ratcheting wrenches from 8mm-19mm for $160. They just dont make USA made tools like they used too. I see why snap-on is the most popular usa made tool brand, but i just can't bring myself to pay those prices. Especially when their are a plethora of other quality tools on the market for much much less.

@@jefftovani5535Yeah buddy!! It was an absolute steal of a deal!! Armstrong USA 8mm-19mm, no skips, reversible ratcheting wrench set for $160 shipped!! I'm so excited!! They get here Friday. I'd like to eventually get the snap-on set, but man are they pricey. They are definitely the best ratcheting wrench set on the market though!! Honestly, I don't own any usa made combination ratcheting wrench sets, so I'm pretty excited for this armstrong set. My icon set has been absolutely stellar, which is why I never really upgraded. I love how long they are and they are freaking strong too. Plus, they have an anti slip open end, so they ticked all the boxes for me. Like I said, I'm pretty stoked for the armstrong set, though. They are officially my 1st usa made ratcheting wrench set. At the moment, I have an icon set, 2 gearwrench sets (90 tooth and 120xp), a tone set, a proto taiwan set, and a Taiwanese brand called non-stop. I have other ratcheting wrench sets, but they are not combination ratcheting wrench sets.

I only had two 1/4 flex head ratchets. A Snap-on and a Matco. I'm down to the Matco. It's alright but not the greatest. I've been thinking about getting either a Duralast or the DieHard. The Duralast has 100 teeth with a detent in the flex joint. The DieHard has 90 teeth with a firm comfort grip handle. I normally prefer a detent on my flex heads but after seeing the spring that the DieHard has I may go with the DieHard. When it comes down to price point the DieHard ratchets are a real bargain.

Man, like you and I’ve discussed, the new 120xp is a huge improvement. That said, as much as I like it, I’ve found I’m partial to the freakin locking flex head SO. Also, on 1/4” ratchets, the soft and hard handles are the only way you get more than a 2 finger handle section lol

@@jefftovani5535 it’s insane. I admit to a weak spot for the SO 1/4” stuff. Largely because it’s so easy to convert it to a compact 3/8” lol and it’s pretty freakin small at that point. Oh that reminds me though, one thing about the Gearwrench…. It’s much closer having a real size handle section than most 1/4” stuff lol

That Tone is one of the next ones on my list. Along with at least one more breaker bar. I have a few, and they're just a solid, good quality little ratchet. Tone IS NOT made in Taiwan. You can look on their website. Most of their stuff is made in Japan, and they have one facility in Vietnam. If it has JAPAN stamped in the handle, that's where it's made. If not, it comes from the Vietnam facility. But, they do their own manufacturing, which I like.
@victorhoyt4352
@victorhoyt4352 17 күн бұрын
Ohhhh, how little you know... Most of their stuff is made in Taiwan, bud. Also, Japan has different laws and regulations regarding stating where the item is made. I'd say about 70% of Tone stuff is either Taiwan, Thailand, or Vietnam. Very little of their product line is actually made in Japan. Explain to me how the Vim, the Carlyle, the Powerbuilt, and the Blackhawk ratchets are EXACT clones of the Tone inside and out, but are made in Taiwan? I don't mean to be rude, but you need to educate yourself before spreading misinformation, or making outlandish statements.

Do you have the 3/8 120XP like the 1/4? I have the 1/4 and I love it. But I wasn't sure if the 3/8 was worth the cost.

@@jefftovani5535 You're welcome! Do you think the 3/8 like that 1/4 is worth buying for tight spaces? I'm really debating on the 90T over the 120xp slim
