In order to warranty a CAT branded Snap On Tool you have to travel to a local CAT dealer and hopefully swap the old one for a new one. And sometimes the dealer doesn't have the tool in stock. So you can wait, go home and come back at a later date. You can also buy Snap On tools from their industrial rep. Actual Snap On Tools are 50% less than the truck dealer.

Not it’s live as soon as I plug it in. Hope this helps

Set up an Account at a truck parts dealership. Everything Cat is cheaper through a dealer. Cat itself will not sell you anything at less than "MSRP". Discounts are much better through their dealers, if you set up an account and do some sweet talking to the parts guy ... or high volume of sales.

I worked at a place where we built military drop boxes and filled them. The tools were Snap-On but sometimes the tools would have a different (cheaper) name on them. I cant for the life of me remember the other name, it wasn't a common recognized name though. So either a cheap tool manufacturer makes Snap-On, or Snap-on also sells their tools under a cheaper name.

Honestly, good for this guy being able to afford a hobby like that. I was a diesel and auto dealership mechanic for years. The first half of my career I worked out of an old Mac economizer top and bottom box until the cabinet on the rollaway cracked at the upper corners from rolling it over rough pavement and Mac offered me the original price off a larger roller. I still use that roller and the old top box 30+ years later. They were made by Stanley for Mac before Mac merged with them. The two boxes combined, my carts, all of my tools cost me about what his roller alone cost him. I still have just about every receipt. That box is stuffed full of Snap-on, Mac, Matco, Cornwell, Craftsman, Blue Point, Stanley, Blackhawk, Great Neck, Plumb, Williams, Proto, Lisle, OTC, Estwing, Icon, Quinn, Bauer. You name it, it’s in those boxes. I bought plenty from the trucks but also pawn shops, swap meets, auctions, eBay. I bought a lot of high end tools at the DRMO auctions. I bought a couple houses through the course my wrenching career using the older of those tools. I think that green and black box and its unused contents cost him more than my first house in Colorado. In fact, I’m sure of it.

My dad had some woodworking tools and as he started to get older. He started giving everything to my brother. After my dad died, there was a couple things left that I let my brother in law have. I didn't want anything of his, because he didn't want me to have anything. Anytime my parents had anything they were getting rid of. They would first offer it to my brother, then my brother in law, then my sister and finally it would go in the newspaper and sell it to a complete stranger.
