You need to remove the cowling and reseal the guard over the blower motor, or it will flood again, and probably short/burn the fuse box. Is a poorly designed plastic cover held on by sticky black butyl putty. Under cowling is also access to seal the area around the wiper blade motor, which often leaks into passenger floorboard. Love the 740 videos! Cheers!

I had an old celica with the same symptoms and the fix was to wire in a relay to the solenoid that fed 12v from the battery to the solenoid trigger when the relay was activated

The passenger side uses a cover, made of molded plastic, and that piece that you saw there is because it is held bbn in place by a plastic screw like , not like the 240 where the cover is like felt, now what has me puzzled is how can ice get in there if that system is supposed to be sealed, and that the ice if melted would have shorted it out

Don’t let anyone give you any lip about buying a store brand battery. If it is like here, there are only a limited number of manufacturers who make batteries no matter what the brand. It is all just a label.
@ejoautovideos

Exactly, most of the time people don't even know who is the OEM supplier, and store brand can often times just be re-brands. 👍

It's an aftermarket outlet for a cabin air heater. This way you can plug the car into a 230V power outlet and pre-heat the engine and cabin in the winter time. Super nice to have in a cold country! 👍

Nice. Har också bara hört gott om Biltemas bilbatterier. Alla bilbatterier mår bra av underhållsladdning med jämna mellanrum. Min pappas gamla bil fick laddning via motorvärmaren regelbundet varje vintertid. Batteriet höll i 16 år. Då hade laddningen via motorvärmaren slutat fungera samt att bilen kördes väldigt lite hehe.
@ejoautovideos
@ejoautovideos 2 жыл бұрын
Exakt!

Curious how long that new solenoid will last before it starts giving you problems. Hope you kept the old Bosch item.
@ejoautovideos
@ejoautovideos 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm keeping it as a spare. I also re-lubed the piston and carefully sprayed some WD40 into the pin, it actually felt like it was moving more freely after that. So probably it would have worked after that, however the contact points might be worn so I just went with a new one. 👍

Ja, precis. Jag har haft bra erfarenheter med de. Ok om det är en nyare/dyrare bil, då hade jag nog kört med Bosch eller liknande, mest för att det ser bättre ut när man öppnar huven 😂

What do you when lubricating the starter? I'm pretty new to cars.
@ejoautovideos
@ejoautovideos 2 жыл бұрын
There is a lot of moving parts in a starter. When rebuilding a starter here is what I do: •check if brushes and wear ring (rotor) is ok, if not it's usually a better idea to buy a new complete starter especially if the rotor is bad. •check bearings, if bad replace. •Clean everything. •lube all moving mechanical parts with suitable grease (gears, piston, axels, bendix mechanism etc.) Don't over lube! You don't want grease on the brushes or windings. •it's not a bad idea to replace the solonoid, they are usually pretty cheap. And it's not uncommon for them to go bad. •Put everything back together 👌👍
