Ramon Dekkers had the same problem. His right ankle was his weak link. That's why he had to retire. It can take a lot of abuse in hard kicks, hitting the knee, elbow, shin. The crook of the ankle on top is sensitive. Not a striking surface, not meant to take high impact, like when a knee or head hits it. You have to be very careful.
