I hear you Tom, my channel was about pipe smoking and the channel grew. However, once I stop smoking and stop making pipe smoking, it all went down the hill. Still most of my video click rate are from my pipe videos. I add different content to the same channel, to no effect (slow effect). This new content is about meditations. However, it is about to change. I am going to do just make any video that comes to mind and not limit myself to a particular subject. I have made a lot of investment in video related equipment, and will continue to get what I want though. If I make it, it’s fine, if not i am not going to be bother with it and still just get out there and make videos. Eventually people will know me. I think😅…

Creating videos specifically for what YOU would want to see is a great piece of advice, that's always been my ethos during the creating purpose. If you love making videos then just keep at it. The algorithm Gods work in mysterious ways, my channel grew in 2 weeks by what previously took 2 years because one of my videos that just blew up! Good to hear your thoughts- I'd never thought about the downsides of telling friends and family to subscribe!
