@@hangswithchristian You're Welcome anytime. I have always been interested in Japan. I have a friend that lives in South Korea so I have heard things about life there and Japan. I started my KZbin channel and at the beginning all of my views were from Japan. I looked more into the culture and the food to help add more to my videos since the majority of my views were from there.

Thanks for sharing! Hello from Louisiana in the US. This is perfect. I'm a musician and sound designer and I got my ALT Job starting March 2025 and my placement is in Hiroshima/Fukuoka/Kita Kyushu prefactures. I find out in October where exactly. Not many people cover the costs of living in these regions so I highly appreciate this. I also plan on doing a YT series on the move and change, even picked up a DJI Pocket 3, lavs, etc. for the trip. Absolutely can not wait and look forward to more of your coverage of the area!

Congratulations on the wedding, and the new place. Pricing for Apartments here in Canada have gone through the roof. It's getting to the point that most people need roommates now. One good thing is buildings that were built before 2018 are rent controlled. Meaning the landlord can only raise the rent a small % each year. Sadly newer buildings, the landlord can do whatever they want with the rent. so you could move in, and a year later he could say it's double the price. We are living in an older building. Very large 2-bedroom place with a gorgeous view. We pay $875/m inclusive. Not that we would, but if we did move, we couldn't even rent a room for that much now. Rooms $850, 1 Bedroom - $1700, 2 Bedroom $2200, 3Bedroom $2500 to $3500. What's happening here in Canada; Large big city companies are buying up older buildings, they renovate, put in shiny new stainless appliances, hardwood floors etc, and double or triple the original rent for the next tenant. Renovated apts in our building are going for double what we pay. It's sad. Anyone on a fixed income really struggles. Homelessness has become a major issue across Canada. It's sad when someone who is working full time cannot afford to rent a place anymore.
@hangswithchristian
@hangswithchristian 5 ай бұрын
Sadly I’ve heard this story in many different cities. Thanks for sharing the insight, I’ve heard Canada especially is becoming unliveable during to rent increases going crazy and homelessness increasing 10 fold. Those prices are wild hey. Before when I was like in Sydney, my shared 2 bedroom I was renting with a friend was $2300USD a month and that was a cheaper place. People in relationships can’t afford their own place anymore so have to rent a bedroom in a shared apartment just to be able to afford rent in the city they work in. 40% minimum of your pay goes towards rent. I just don’t see it getting any easier either. It’s so disheartening to the families I see living on the streets. Hopefully your rent maintains for the future to come mate!

In Ottawa, my city, that would be well over 2500-3000 CAD per month for what you have. I own a house and haven’t rented in years but that amount you pay sounds like I used to pay back in 1991 for a two bedroom. 🙂 All the best to you and yours. The simple solution for your kitchen workspace problem would be to determine how much of the sink you want/need to cover. Then, get a board that can be stained (cooking oil is a safe stain) for wood or perhaps a piece of laminate that you can place on it to be used as needed. Anything you put in your spaces should be practical/functional and a solution to a "problem". How I do it in my 60m space in the US is to find things that I can use that allow for storage not look like clutter and have more than one use. It looks like you figured that out from necessity, but there is always room for improvement.

@@hangswithchristian living in Japan changed the way I look at the world and the way I live my life. My thought process is different. There is a Japanese part to my brain, there is an American part to my brain. When you live abroad for an extended length of time, you become a citizen of the world. You don’t think of yourself as being from a specific country anymore. I look at things in my own country now and wonder why they got the way they are. I tended to stay away from the heavy tourist areas. I didn’t really notice that much difference in whether or not it would become more popular. oh! You asked how this compares to where we are. I live in Vancouver, BC. One bedroom apartments go, now, for around 2400CAD/month, which is INSANE. A 3 bedroom would be around 4G a month. It's really insane, there are no rent controls here. I'm lucky, I live in a housing cooperative and pay 1100/month for a one bedroom, about 25 minutes by rapid transit from the downtown core. Housing coops here are an alternative to owning a home - essentially residents determine the housing charges and are responsible for all the upkeep. Here, we just had to take out a huge loan to replace our windows and pipes, so my housing charge has gone up 26% in 3 years. !!! It's crazy expensive here. I would rather be in Japan, except I can't speak Japanese, and I'm over 60, so that's a pipe dream, lol. You have a lot of space for 650/month, and I envy you! I have a question for you: is it difficult to have pets in rentals in Japan? I have a cat, which is a good reason to live in a coop, as most rentals here do not allow any pets at all. Cheers and thank you!

Hey legend, thanks so much for the kind words and for the support! I’m glad you enjoyed the content and I appreciate the sub 🙋🏽‍♂️ Yeah, magnetic tint is fantastic. I used it when I was in Sydney on my last apartment. Basically, your play like normal tent but you can peel it off easily as it’s not residue based and not sticky. So you can reuse it at any time - super great and reduces the heat by about 10° if you get a good tint! Wow, those prices in Canada are wild. I have a few subscribers from there and they have also mentioned that. A lot of the world is just getting out of hand and affordable, unfortunately. I’m incredibly fortunate to be here where prices coming from western country are so much cheaper. Thank you so much for the incredible information, that’s really interesting! And I’m not entirely sure about pet rentals to be honest but I see cats everywhere in the city on the streets so there must be a lot of owners in apartments with them haha I think it is pretty much like alot of places where you just have to find pet friendly apartments. Not sure what the right name is for them, but like an arm chair that turns round. You also need to try and find a small space for your wife to have as her private area in the house as you and the child both have your own areas. Otherwise you’ll start going mad. Good luck learning to live together. And congratulations on realising the dream. I understand more now where the drive to save hard and get back there came from.

Hey Louis! That’s fantastic news. You will have an amazing time! All of the teachers and admin staff are incredibly supportive. To be honest, my best advice would be to go through to school, at least at the start. it’s a little bit more expensive outright but all your expenses are generally included and you don’t have to pay any of the crazy move fees. Have you asked the school for their connections with companies that rent to students? Generally trying to rent an apartment on a student Visa comes with a lot of difficulties as minimum contracts for rentals in Japan are generally two years. Have you also looked at a share house option? I know the school has connections to provide them if they are available and they are generally a lot cheaper! I hope that helps legend and I appreciate the support 🙋🏽‍♂️🇯🇵

I did as you said and will be staying at a school accommodation for the first two months to get started, and then I will see with school contacts and share houses, it will be easier being there in person ! I can't wait to get to Fukuoka and start this new adventure, thank you again and have a great day :)

Hey buddy! That’s so awesome to hear. The school is a really supportive place for students. They are really kind. Glad you got a spot through the school! How long is your course? You’ll have a blast in Fukuoka and starting in a beautiful month of autumn 🍂

Oh that’s so great buddy! Yeah I think the majority of the students came on the year program but of you want to extend with the school, it’s getting soo busy so always try to apply as early as possible! Either way, you’ll have alot of fun and will see some people there I have interviewed in my videos haha And absolutely? Autumn is just so stunning plus the weather is at such a nice temperature 🍂 I’m soo looking forward to it!

Hey love your videos, bro by the way I'm from Pakistan I want to ask how it is living in Fukuoka .Is it different from Tokyo or Osaka.how it's renting situation for foreigners there plz share❤❤

Hey buddy, thanks for watching all the way from Pakistan! 🇵🇰 That’s so awesome to hear ✌🏽 Yeah, living here is amazing and the lifestyle is a lot more chill and relaxed. Great city, all of your required infrastructure for domestic and international travel and I would say about half the cost of living compared to Tokyo or more. Renting has the same problems for foreigners all across Japan unfortunately. But I found a company recently that I’m looking at making a video for that might be able to help with that situation so stay tuned legend🙋🏽‍♂️🇯🇵

I bought the same Studio Ghibli bank for my sons 7 years ago, but for some reason ours plays “Do You Know the Muffin Man”, 😂. It’s a bit creepy, actually!! 😅

Haha OMG really? Was it a legit one or from some place else? I actually love that, so funny anyone that goes to use it that loves Ghibli, then questions if they knew who it was in the first place haha

@@hangswithchristian I bought it online from what I assumed was a legitimate shop, but it was so long ago that I don’t recall. It looks exactly like yours and works fine! I remember that the description said it would play music from the film, so we were surprised with the seemingly random chip! 😂 We still get a kick out of it, though! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Haha I don’t play games too much tbh! Sometimes I just need a 20 minutes distraction from my mind buzzing constantly so I jump onto Fall guys or Mario Odyssey right now. You play also? Recs please!?

ooh nice nice! i do, very much into games! it's hard not to recommend Breath of The Wild, but be warned it can be exceedingly distracting! if you're after another game you can play short bursts of however, i would highly recommend checking out Balatro!! it's a critical thinking poker-themed game, where you can use a bunch of jokers to play ridiculously high-scoring hands. very addictive hahaha
