My daughter who just turned 15 last August is really into birds too ☺️ her first bird was a peach faced lovebird. Unfortunately he passed away a few months ago 😥 that bird adored my daughter and went everywhere with her. His name was Nuggie like chicken nuggets lol that little bird was little but had the biggest personality I've ever seen in a bird 💜 we would take him everywhere we went. He would just ride on our shoulders too. She now has a pineapple conure like the bird in this video. The new bird Skittles is sweet but doesn't have nearly the personality Nuggie had. I have a blue Quaker Parrot that is more attached to my daughter than me lol but Skittles and Wilow my Quaker are extremely close.

You'd be surprised how many there are because people go into ownership without realizing the responsibility. It's sad. I have lived in Alabama and Colorado and there were (unfortunately, in a way) many rescues for unwanted birds. Do some Google sleuthing if you're interested in adoption or volunteering for the rescue, so many birds need your help! Before COVID changed our financial situation I was looking into adopting 2 caique brothers (named Merry and Pippin lol) but couldn't. The rescue was packed full. Those two birds were in great condition but had been there almost 8 months =/ felt so guilty I couldn't provide them the home they need.

Don't feel bad; my Indian Ringneck won't, either. The only way to get a target stick anywhere near him is to clip his wings. He won't stay on a perch, he won't come when called... No matter what treat I use. The only thing I can count on is that he will follow me, so after he's had some good flying time, I walk into my bathroom and when he follows me in there, he lands on my drawer, steps up like a perfect gentleman, and I just walk him back to his cage. He's great during playtime, funny, very affectionate, but I wish I could teach him to stay in one place without clipping him. Then I could let the dogs lose in the house while he's out; keeping them separated is a pain while he's flying.
@mimthyss4 жыл бұрын
@@jamssnana4084 clipping is never the answer. It's a shortcut. It does not address the actual root of your problems, and is rather just a cheat/lazy way to cover for the fact you can't fix the problem. If you watched BirdTricks more, you would understand why you should not clip a bird unless for a medical reason (i.e they will seriously injure themselves if unclipped, such as blind birds). It's horrible. Birds are BUILT to fly. They've evolved for millions of years specifically for flight. Everything on their body and in their lives is designed around flying. Taking that away from a bird is cruel and horrible. If you weren't prepared for a creature to fly and exercise as needed around your house, you shouldn't have gotten a bird. Because guess what, birds fly. It should never be a solution to take away an animals ability to move as they're meant to. Imagine if we did that to naughty children, because they won't stay still we tie their ankles together "harmlessly" to stop them walking around. Or because they won't stop crying we keep them gagged. You can't solve a problem like that. That's not fair at all
@jamssnana40844 жыл бұрын
@@mimthyss Speaking of shortcuts, what shortcuts did your parents use to try to teach you simple manners when you were even younger than you are now? Because trying to lecture and shame a 60-year-old woman that you do not know does not make you look smarter and will not change her mind. Birds are built to fly??? 😱😱😱 They've evolved that way? You're amazing. Really, you should be a teacher. BTW, I don't care if you let your birds free-fly all over your house 24/7; they're still in a cage. Why would YOU buy an animal that should be flying free just to keep it in a cage??? So, we're NOT supposed to cut off our kids' fingers or gag them? Oops! My bad. No wonder the cops kept coming to our house asking questions. Our kids aren't rude, though. I DO watch BirdTricks videos. I'm a Patreon supporter. I feed my birds Tops pellets, fruit & vegetables, and some seed mix. So don't go assuming you know more about me than you think you do. THIS is what I don't like about this channel. If you have a different opinion about something... clipping, food, training, and dare to voice it, there will always be some obnoxious ASSHOLE that will pop out of the woodwork to try to show off how smart he/she is, shame you, bully you, whatever you want to call it. Not one sentence of what you wrote is new or original. I was just trying to tell a fellow member that I have a very similar problem with my bird, not even addressing you, and you had to jump in. If you need another lecture on why your opinion is not necessary here, just let me know. 10/10 Can Provide.

This is so lovely to see 😍 I'm not sure people realise how quick to learn Gcc are with the right training. Dave helped me a couple of months ago with my gcc baby Sprout (I'm in the UK) who had got into the habit of continually biting ears. Not only does Sprout not bite ears any more, he is fully target trained, recalls around the house to me, nods to the cue yes, spins, steps up, waves and makes a kiss sound when you ask for a kiss. He's on pellets and their seasonal feeding system. Sprout isnt 1 years old until Christmas. Capri shows that with the right help, anyone can help make their bird feel more secure and friendly. 😘
