This literally is the best Tardis console I have seen, the 80's one is my favorite.
@RogueRelic3 жыл бұрын
I like the third doctors console and roundels but I can see why you like the 80s model, it has that hole vibe of keyboards and slim design. Its a cool video.

This is just eye candy, It's so great with so many controls making seem more like a tardis, a complex machine. It feels real, like you could actually see it in the show. It has many great tardis-like traits. The mechanics to make everything blink and move makes it seem like the Tardis is actually completing tasks to keep it moving and keep it flowing with the space-time continuum.

Still, this is incredibly impressive for a fan-made Tardis. It's really authentic to the original one in the show, and it's awesome that you got the cast to sign it.

@LordZontar4 жыл бұрын
This design is perhaps the most dated console because it looks so much like a 1980s conception of future technology. That is not to detract from the workmanship on this duplicate prop, though. It is meticulously detailed down to the last button and screen graphic and looks as if it could actually have been used on the show itself. Just a beautiful job all around. A museum-quality replica.
@jarrodlungley4 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you, LordZontar! Indeed it does look quite dated with the big clunky keyboard keys and CRT monitors. It’d be interesting to see an updated variation on the same concept, however that too would become dated quite quickly. Thanks for your kind words on the workmanship! It was quite a job but one worth the time and effort. I couldn’t have done it without the help of my friend and mentor over at PB Props and Models, and my best man who did all the programming and automation. Without their help it would still be in an unfinished state!

Cheers Mark! Yes, keeping well and the console is being preserved well though sadly is remains in its shipping containers most of the time as I have nowhere to have it fully assembled. I make small tweaks to it when I get the time. :)

Hello, great work on the console! I have no idea if this will ever be noticed, considering the age of the video. But I am really trying to create my own life-size replica of the 80's tardis console. I was wondering if you have any tips on how you achieved this to it's fullest extent? Right now i'm quite busy with work, and won't have have a decently long period of free days to work on building it from wood for instance, but I am 3D printing switches and buttons and what not, not all of them are screen-accurate, (not the ones used in the show but like, little keyboards and switches I found online) but I like it this way. Anyhow, just passing by and wondering if you have any tips :)

Jarrod, awesome effort mate, I'm curious, how do you transport it around and lift it? It must weigh a bit !!
@jarrodlungley11 жыл бұрын
Cheers for that! Yeah, it does weigh a bit. Both the top and under-side panels lift off leaving six 'elbows' which also lift off. Then the time rotor and central mechanism are left over. All of the panels are transported in two road cases on wheels. :)

Don't lie to me, you just managed to get your hands on the original and pass it off as your replica.
@jarrodlungley6 жыл бұрын
Lol! Thanks for your comment! I can assure you that I hadn’t ever seen the original until I went to Cardiff in 2017, just months before the Doctor Who Experience closed down. As I live in Australia, I had to rely on loads of reference pics, prototyping, and help from a friend of mine in the UK who had acquired some measurements derived from parts that came from the original moulds. 😎

I never really liked this console, it felt like a pyramid. Both the buttons themselves and the time rotor just felt too angular (right angles). I preferred Davison's first console.
