Here is a flipthrough of my A-level textiles coursework.

The video took a while to make and edit (I do not have a tripod) so I struggled recording this. Also Instagram kept cropping parts of the video. So I decided to upload on my KZbin channel.

we aren't allowed a coursework book this year bc of covid , we have to do all of it on PowerPoint which is so so so disappointing. YOURS LOOKS STUNNING , ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE VIDEO

Aah this is so nice! It's cool seeing your take on metamorphosis, it was my theme this year for gcse and I also went down the nature root but I'm afraid it didn't end up as cool as yours though.

My textiles teacher would have hated this because of all the work directly on the page and handwritten words. I love it though. Beautiful work.

Hi, it's a really enjoyable A-level and if you're thinking of going into the fashion or textiles industry I think you'll find it useful. And the answer to that is no! As long as you are creative, and explain your thought processes you'll be fine! Hope this helps. :)

Hi! I hope that you enjoy textiles it's honestly such an enjoyable A-level and it'll allow you to explore textiles and design and come up with your very own ideas. Congratulations on getting an excellent mark for your GCSE art🙌 for my exam board for textiles, it was kind of a mixture of art and textiles, we had free choice of exploring both art and textiles. (Which was why I didn't choose art as an a level) Many people from my class took both art and textiles, yes if you have the motivation to do both it would definitely be possible to do both!

Hey, thank you for your comment! I did my A-Levels 4 years ago, but from the top of my head I remember I would choose either a specific designer, artist, or theme for a double page. For example, If I was doing a designer page I would try to include images of their work, my OWN photos that I'd have taken that I felt related to the theme of the designer page. I would then try to create a textiles sample inspired by the designers work, I.e. an embroidered sample. Adding your own fashion illustrations would also be a bonus! Essentially I'd say try to think outside the box and whatever ideas you have try to include them in your sketchbook. You could also look at your exam board and have a look at yhe learning objectives! Hope this helps :)

Do teachers tell u what to base a page on? Nature is the theme i want but i dont know how u come up with everything to write and draw about

So sorry for the late reply, and no my teachers did not tell us what to base the page on. They gave prompts and ideas, but it's upto you what you write and present on the page. :))) It might be different depending on schools and exam boards though. Hope this helps ☺️

do you do a book and a final project per year? so a book + project for year 12 and a book + project for year 13?

In year 12 we did 2 books, the first was just a practice one, and the second was for our 'mock exam' where we also made a final piece. The things we did in year 12 did not count towards the final grade. In year 13 we started our actual Coursework book with a final piece (this is what I have shown in the video). If we still got to do our exams in year 13 we would have done an exam book. As well a final piece in exam conditions. Hope this makes sense. For reference I did OCR. :)

in A 2 coursework are we not required to make 3 pieces of garment ??

I think it depends on your exam board? For my exam board, in year 2 we where required to make 2 final pieces coursework book, and one for our exam book. I didn't get to complete my exam book, nor make a final piece for the exam book due to the covid situation. Hope that makes sense
