😭 I think about retirement everyday. I got so many side hustles
@tweetydabney36873 ай бұрын
@@JamionWhite1That is good. Keep Hustling. Always remember you really never retire. Only those people who work in corporate retire think so. And they are Ok with living on a fixed income. What happen in the last 2 years has just hurt those who retired and reduce their fix income in half. But a true hustler will make money. ❤

Im 37, Im a dad and a teacher in sweden. I love my job 85% of the time. It's 8-4 5days a week plus admin meetings. I've always looked at work like something separate from the rest of my life though. My mindset is that work enables me to do everything else in life, its necessary. Im lucky to have found a balance where i actually enjoy the "necessary" work i do though. I think its important to set an expectation for what "work" is. Its not so fun that I'd be doing it for free, but as far as work goes, i enjoy it. If you think work is gonna be something so awesome that it defines you as a person, you are gonna be disappointed. I know its way more nuanced than this, but..thats my 2cents.

Nah I appreciate this for sure. I know with any job it’s never glamorous. But I do look at work the same way you do. It enables me to fund my life which is amazing. It’s just the act of the same routine everyday is killing me mentally

@JamionWhite1 thanks for the response, yeah that is for sure true. Anything done over and over is gonna drive you insane. Luckily, my students find new and exciting ways to mess with me everyday lol

I used to relate to this, when I worked retail for so many years. But then I finally got a role that I absolutely love. I work from home and it never feels like work because I now enjoy what I'm doing. I hope you too find the same thing because that is the real dream, it's not just to get a whole load of money so that you can just check out and never work ever again. Don't give up in finding what it is you truely enjoy.

I used to love my job so much. Don’t get me wrong I still do and am doing what I love. But I love content creation… Not to sound like everyone else in my generation that wants to do it but i’ve literally been making content since high school and took it serious in college and I love it. Rather I make money or not it’s a true dream of mine 😂 that’s why I say i’d downsize my whole life just to do it

Over 30 crowd here 🙋🏾♀and let me tell you I have always treated work like a means to an end. I joined the Military right after high school so I could get out of my small town ✅ travel the world ✅ get a free education ✅ My first job right after the Military was a means to support my family ✅and so I could purchase some properties ✅ Then I worked with a financial advisor to start planning my exit strategy so I could retire early (this was before I learned about the FIRE movement...look it up). I have since walked away from my 9-5 to pursue my dream of being an Actress & an Emcee and consider myself retired. Now yes, I did lose myself along the way and got stuck in the rat race, but having a goal of early retirement put me back on track. I'm out now and never going back to a traditional 9-5!

It's called adulting lol. Work/Life balance is key. WFH has It's perks too. Try working for SaaS companies, the culture is still maturing and you can help add to it. Versus old established corporate companies, good luck. I used to take work home or stay logged on until my boss logs off. I stopped that, when 5pm hits- laptop closed. Keep grinding and stay prayed up, it'll get better. And keep your circle small while in the office, get your money and keep it moving.

This sounds exactly like the drudgery people have dealt with for decades. But I'm 42, and I think Gen Z is the generation that can really change things. We have AI now and so many other technical tools- why are we still working 40-hr workweeks? How can more jobs be either 100% remote or work-from-anywhere-in-the-world? Let's figure out how to work less and enjoy life more, at the same salaries- and for all income classes. People without degrees whose jobs are being automated at a faster rate deserve work-life balance, too. My generation and the one above me (Boomers) are still caught up in trying to do things the way they've always been done. But I think Gen Z could revolutionize things.
@JamionWhite14 ай бұрын
Nah fr we definitely need to make a change to the work week. Even a 30 hour week could be a change for a couple years. There’s no way we should spend half of our lives in an office

If you can look for start ups they usually are more relaxed on policy and you can climb the latter fast usually a lot of them have unlimited PTO, pay for work trips and other things. But know you will work HARD. After working for a start up I don't think I could ever work for a large company EVER again. Make sure you stay away from companies that call their staff Family RED Flag!

The corporate environment is different. We use to have Company cars and expense accounts. You could take your Clients to lunch and expense it. If you're doing project work, it's not uncommon to take Client's to post project dinner and drinks and expense it. Lunch with colleagues with on Friday and if we're in between projects, we'd have long lunches or late late (2:30 - 3pm) and not come back to the office. End of month, boss would take you for drinks and expense it. But we worked hard on projects, skipped lunch or lunch at your desk. 10-12hr days, 6 days per week were required for short stretches when required and you can use your expense card for dinners when this happened. We also got flown places for training or for projects. I'm pretty sure there was a lot of abuse with the expense cards, but the business trusted you with it. I think Gen Z got screwed a bit. I don't know any Company that offer Company cars or expense accounts anymore. The work place definitely does not seem as fun unless if maybe you work for facebook, or google or apple, but I've heard they've cut down on a lot of the employee perks as well.
@JamionWhite14 ай бұрын
damn yea we get none of this really. When I first came we used to do lunch with the team and go out for drinks and company paid. But my second year in we haven’t been doing anything. We had a lunch for our interns for the summer and we had to pay for our own meals like huh?? We still have happy hours every thursday and vendors come in during the week and provide lunch to get us to work with them that’s about it. Only benefit we get now is every now and then we can enter a drawing for sport game tickets if a client can’t make it

Hey Jamion! If you’re in the ATL area hmu! I just found your channel and I love it. I related to so many things you’ve talked about. I’m looking for friends as well. But yes I notice a lot of people are tired of working not just gen z especially after the pandemic it got really bad. Are you trying to be a full time content creator or is this just a side hustle long term for you?
@JamionWhite14 ай бұрын
Hey! Thank you for watching and i’m glad I could be a relatable source for you 😂 I would love to be a full time content creator long term but i’m also like scared of becoming one because of watching others and what they go through. Being a full time creator is a goal and I for sure never want to change from the person I am now. So just have to keep praying for when it happens I don’t fall into the category of people who “change”
@Justmelanin4 ай бұрын
@@JamionWhite1 no problem! Same! I think full time content creation will be fun but I don’t want to be fully dependent on it due to certain things I’ve seen ppl go thru if platforms drop on payin content creators, but I love creating vlogs as well. I’m gonna keep working until my time comes. Just got on Tik tok to help me. Nice talking to u thanks
